  • This story will stay with me
This was my first book by K.M. Moronova and it absolutely wrecked me. As a survivor myself, I can honestly say this book captured the emotional rollercoaster so well. The pain, the healing, the complicated feelings that come with trauma t all felt very real. This is definitely a heavy read, but it’s written so beautifully. The story pulls you in and doesn’t let go. I was completely unprepared for the ending. It broke my heart, but at the same time it felt incredibly healing. This is one of those stories that stays with you long after you turn the last page. ... show more

  • Drenched in Darkness, Stitched with Hope
Format: Kindle
Plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Characters: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice/Romance: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Writing/Prose: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.25 Dark psychological thrillers have been my jam lately, and The Fabric of Our Souls by K.M. Moronova didn’t disappoint. From page one, this book pulls you deep into its gritty, twisted world—and doesn’t let go. I really appreciated the disclaimer at the beginning, where the author clearly states this isn’t a self-help book and openly acknowledges the romanticization of mental illness and rehabilitation. That small note helped shift my mindset going in and should honestly be a standard in books tackling these themes. We’re introduced to Wynn, our FMC, who wants to die—and is dying, thanks to a terminal heart condition. She calls herself a villain and wears her nihilism like armor. She’s clever, dark, and painfully relatable, especially in how her depression strains her relationship with her brother James. As someone who struggles with anxiety and depression, her internal battle felt all too familiar. Then there’s Liam—introduced through a strange, offbeat interaction. He’s cold, cryptic, and unsettling, with an odd sense of humor. He doesn’t always make sense, but there’s something magnetic about him. He seems fascinated by Wynn, though his behavior is often distant, even cruel. Their chemistry is intense, confusing, and impossible to look away from. Harlow Sanctum, the facility where they meet, is just as much a character as anyone else. Its eerie atmosphere, open-door policy, and mysterious backstory add layers of unease and tension. Wynn and Liam ending up as roommates is a wild but strangely believable setup in this world. Wynn’s dark humor is a lifeline through the spiral. The way she jokes from a place of pain really hit home—it’s a defense mechanism I know well. Liam, too, has layers. He flips between blunt honesty and aloof distance, but his emotional bluntness reads true to how some people living with mental illness navigate the world—raw, and without room to sugarcoat things. Every side character brings something interesting to the table, but Lanston stood out most. He’s a bright spot, the grounding force in the chaos. The found family that forms between him, Liam, and Wynn was one of my favorite parts of the book. It felt earned in a way that only trauma-forged bonds can. There’s an emotional push and pull between Wynn and Liam that feels like a knife’s edge. They hurt each other, sometimes brutally—physically, emotionally, and mentally—but still manage to find pockets of tenderness. It’s complicated, messy, and achingly real. The sadness they carry is heavy and constant, and I often found myself thinking, This could have been me. That longing to be “better” or “normal” is heartbreakingly familiar. And let’s not forget: the spice? Intense. Some of the scenes between Wynn and Liam are scorching, raw, and not for the faint of heart—but they fit the emotional weight behind their connection. The last 15% of the book is utterly heartbreaking. Truly, it almost hurt to finish. There is a happily ever after—but it’s hard-earned and laced with pain. That ending left me aching in the best way. What I loved most is that healing isn’t portrayed as a straight line. It’s ugly, complicated, nonlinear—and sometimes, it’s just about finding the one person or place that gives you enough safety to even begin. Wynn and Liam’s story reflects that beautifully. And one name I will not forget: Crosby. That demon haunts this book. I loved every gut-wrenching, soul-aching second of The Fabric of Our Souls. And now, I’m waiting (im)patiently for Lanston’s story—because that man deserves a love story of his own. ... show more

  • Beautifully Written Book! Beautifully Written Book!
Format: Paperback
This book is a must read!! I love the way each character was written with so much depth and feeling. I also love the raw and realistic emotions of the characters start to display for one another as they learn more about each other. The spice level would be a 3 🌶️🌶️🌶️. It’s the perfect amount of spice not overwhelming the story with it which is great. If you like dark romance books that has a great but very sad storyline with the perfect amount of smut you’ll love this. I’m so glad I gave this book a try definitely cried a little; I’ll rate this 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ... show more

  • With a few adjustments, could have been a 5 star read
This book has a little of EVERYTHING. Dark romance, physchological thriller, mystery. I found my self saying "what the fu..." multiple times while reading this... almost like it jumped around <too much>.... but in the end, I liked it. I wanted so much more from this book though, it had so much potential. To start, I noticed a few typos. Not big deal, but pair that with the cover that HOLDS finger prints and was poorly printed, there's a star lost in itself. Aside from the physical problems, there were SO MANY HOLES. Character development was missed BIG TIME. I couldn't help but feel that Wynn's backstory should have been explored more as well as Lanston's. The author explored Liam's backstory a bit, so I totally clinged to this character. I felt more could have come with Poppie since she was pointed out a few times. Yelina felt kind of tossed in and underdeveloped as well. Then there's the whole PINK HAIR thing. Her pink hair was mentioned SO MANY TIMES... it almost got cringey for me. A threesome should have happened lol. IT NEEDED TO HAPPEN. The ending was absolutely horrible and unfitting. I was severely disappointed. Tbh, it could have ended with a cliff hanger... like a text from Liam's mom... but even if the author wanted a stand alone and to not continue this story, I still felt the ending was rushed and inappropriate for the book. With all of those things out of the way, here's what I did like: The MCs never intentionally hurt one another, that's dope. I adored their connection. The sex scenes were pretty descriptive and not rushed (some words were overused, but I won't complain much about anything else). Little psychological twist thrown in about the brother that I didn't expect, I loved that. Would I recommend this book? Yes. But I warn that it is a minor shit show. I am also a bit of a shit show though and would only recommend to fellow shit shows 😂 I do not think this book was a fail, but I do think it could be better. ... show more

  • Devastatingly Dark & Beautiful
ova: Review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶🌶🌶 “For the broken ones who are in need of something dark, morbid, and beautiful.” If you haven’t read this book yet, or your trying to decide if you want to read it at all...move it up your list. Now. Always check your trigger warnings first, there are some really heavy topics that are romanticized throughout the book. Here are my thoughts. “Instinct tells me he’s dangerous-but I cannot pull away from him. He’s gravity itself. I was caught in his orbit the moment I laid eyes on him at the hospital.” Five stars isn’t enough. This book deserves so much more. “You’ve wilted enough for the world. Don’t you think?” This is probably one of the best books I have ever read. I was immediately stuck on her style of writing. Everything was written beautifully, almost poetic. I wasn’t even all the way done with the book and went and bought not one, but two special signed editions with absolutely no regrets. Needless to say, I am absolutely obsessed. If there was one word to accurately describe this book it would be Beautiful. Devastatingly so. “The fabric of our souls is thin and worn. We must be gentle and love tirelessly.” The characters had my heart from the very beginning. Every single one of them. Usually there is always a quirk or flaw to a main character that irritates the crap out of me. Not here. Not this one. Liam, Lanston, Wynn. To d** for, almost literally. The way this book feels is almost like a dark, and I mean DARK, romance book and a thriller/suspense book had a baby. There are some twists and turns that I couldn’t see coming from a mile away. I wanted to know what was going to happen but I also felt where the story was going to take me and I didn’t want to think that far ahead. Coming to the end, what I thought was going to happen was so far from what actually happened. I think most of me being wrong was because my brain and my heart were constantly fighting between the inevitable. If you want to feel raw, unfiltered emotion this is the book you want to get your hands on. I’m not an emotional reader and this had me feeling everything I could possibly feel. I was sad, in love, giddy, annoyed....devastated.. This book really gave everything it had to give. Unapologetically. “The fabric of our souls is thin-we’ve been wandering this world just to unite in this small corner of the universe. ... show more

At 26, her heart’s a ticking time bomb, and the urge to shuffle off this mortal coil is stronger than ever. After a botched attempt at the ol’ un-aliving, she finds herself face to face with Liam, who’s not just any nurse, but a whole new character in her twisted saga. Enter James, Wynn’s brother, who, instead of a heartfelt reunion, ships her off to the Harlow Sanctum—a place where rules are about as loose as Wynn’s grip on reality. Sharing a room with a guy? No big deal. Especially when said guy happens to be Liam, the not-so-surprising ‘nurse’ from before. Wynn and Liam form a bond tighter than a straitjacket, each determined to save the other from the darkness lurking within. Now, buckle up for a rollercoaster of emotions, because this story’s heavier than a bag of anvils. Mental illness and self-harm are front and center, so consider this your trigger warning. But amidst the darkness, there’s a twisted romance brewing, and Liam’s on a mission to rescue Wynn from her own demons. And let’s not forget about Lanstan, who adds a whole new layer of complexity to the mix. But hold onto your hats, folks, because this tale takes some unexpected detours into thriller territory. Just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, the plot throws you for a loop. And while Wynn may be a bit confused about where exactly she’s headed, one thing’s for sure: this ride is anything but boring. The author’s writing? It’s like a punch to the gut—in the best possible way. You’ll feel every emotion coursing through the characters, and you’ll probably question your own sanity along the way. Plus, there’s a morbid humor woven throughout that’s as refreshing as it is twisted. Who knew mental illness could be so damn entertaining? So, if you’re ready to dive headfirst into the depths of Wynn Coldfox’s mind, buckle up. By the time you reach the end of this wild ride, you’ll be sobbing like a baby. And if you’re like Wynn, grappling with mental health issues on a level that would make a psychiatrist break a sweat, then consider this book your new best friend. But if you’re more on the delicate side, maybe stick to something a bit lighter. This one’s not for the faint of heart—or the faint of mind, for that matter. “𝑰’𝒎 𝒃𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒕 𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒕𝒔. 𝑰 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒑 𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈.” ... show more

  • Good Book but major plot holes that disconnect us from the Main Character.
I read this book in a night. It’s a beautiful dark romance. I like dark romances but a lot of the things authors get wrong is they have the MMC hurt the MFC and we’re supposed to enjoy it. It’s supporting domestic violence. I don’t enjoy those types of dark romances. But that’s one thing this author gets right. The characters really care about each other in the most beautiful way. They never intentionally or want to hurt each other. Which is the way love is supposed to be. I gave it a four because of 2 reasons. 1. We never find out about the main characters past, I would’ve loved to know more her and her family. It was a huge plot hole because it kept mentioning parts like a piano teacher and her mother. If you’re not going to reveal the moment she realized she was broken or why she was broken at all why keep bringing up her past in vague ways. In the present the main character said that everyone hates her and she hurts everyone. But we had nothing to know where she got that from? I wanted to know how her mom died and where her dad was. It was hard to form an emotional connection to her because of this. I wanted to know more about her brother’s relationship with her. I’m a huge crybaby when it comes to books with feelings. Mainly because I put my self in the MC shoes. But this book did nothing for me, I felt no feelings. And I pretty sure it was because we had no back story or no deep dive into what makes our MC, our Main Character. The second reason is a baby came out of it. I hate that trope with a passion and there was no need for a baby. I understand the MMC and the MFC had a pregnancy kink but I didn’t think they would be dumb enough to bring a baby in it so soon without grieving properly or finding real time to heal. Overall it was just a decent read. ... show more

Wowza, this book ripped me to shreds. I don’t understand this level of pain, and hope I never do, but it was gripping, emotionally painful and beautiful.
