This substrate has been perfect for a very young leopard gecko’s habitat. The succulents I planted have survived for several weeks and are as healthy as the others planted elsewhere, and the isopod community seems to be doing well. I ordered one bag of this substrate and liked it well enough to order a second. The second was lost in transit while out of state. When I requested a replacement, I was sent a new product with absolutely no hassle. If you’re looking for a suitable bioactive substrate, I cannot recommend this product enough.

Excellent substrate that is ready to go and is perfect for a long 20 gallon tank. As soon as we switched to this, our leo was immediately exploring her digs. This bag was well worth it despite some larger-than-expected pieces of rock and twigs in it. We feed our leo with tongs so minimal to no impaction risk. In addition, this substrate delivered the perfect temperature range on the warm side with an external heating mat.

I love this for my hognose, and she loves it too. I am super allergic to aspen, and finding this was a lifesaver! It's good bang for my buck, the granules are soft and easy for her to dig through, and gotta admit, it looks very aesthetically pleasing in her tank. I'm considering making her a bioactive. It smells great, too!

I didn’t open it, but I’ve heard great things about it. I need a different type of dirt right now for my lizard. I’m just disappointed that in order to return it, I have to pay the shipping and through UPS. I order through Amazon for convenience of avoiding shipping charges and finding places to return items. So keep in mind if you are uncertain about the dirt, it may cost you more to return it.

This substrate is absolutely amazing! I will never go through a different company for substrate... I bought the substrate for leopard geckos and its been PERFECT for us. I will be purchasing the substrate for arachnids soon... and continue to purchase from biodude for damn near all my exotic pets needs. Also... Perfect for my leopard gecko and I could install it with confidence knowing the biodude did a fine job in making this substrate. My gecko loves it and has been digging in it. I'm comfortable knowing it's the perfect blend and the plants are growing like crazy. The color matches the habitat and doesn't smell, if anything it is earthy (as expected). I would recommend to anyone who needs a substrate but doesn't want to mix their own or they are too nervous and want the best. This is it.
