Drain excess water in tropical terrariums and paludariums. Great for bioactive setups with humidity spikes, like a crested gecko tank. Hydrogrow V1 is suitable as a drainage layer for a reptile tank, as a substrate for propagating epiphytes, or as a base for culturing springtails. The rocky, gravel texture lays flat beneath layers of soil, substrate, or substratum. This means it can be used with or without a divider screen. Hydrogrow V1 supports plant root growth and helps maintain soil moisture while capturing excess water that drains through to prevent stagnation. When would I use Hydrogrow V1 instead of Hydrogrow V2? For larger tanks that take on water from even more frequent misting, opt instead for Hydrogrow V2. Hydrogrow V2 has a texture closer to that of leca clay balls than to aquarium pebbles. It is best used in tanks with a drainage valve. What soils require this drainage layer? Hydrogrow V1 is compatible with The Bio Dude’s Terra Fauna or Terra Flora bioactive substrate.
