This is probably my favorite PC game ever. I have played both games, both expansions so many times. Every time you change things up even a little bit - different class for your PC, different party members, NO party members, taking different options in dialogue - you see something new. And the dialogue! Some of the best writing you'll ever see in a game. And none of that includes the wealth of third-party mods. If you have a short attention span and feel like something's missing when your screen isn't splattered with gore, this is not the game for you. This is a long, intricate, beautifully-written plot, with great replay value even after you know all the twists. My only problem with the BG series is my tendency to misplace a disk, and with them now on DVD and neatly packaged together even this is no longer an issue. ... show more

It's a fantastic game. I have had problems with save files becoming corrupt on my windows 10. I'm not entirely sure why, because it runs quite fluidly. No problems with loading screens, a the movie sequences play fine. I also haven't fiddled with the code (using cheats). Other than that, it's a wonderful game. ... show more

I never had the chance to play these games so I ordered them about a month ago, I have a new pc with Win 7 so I was worried about being able to get this game running on a new pc after reading so many forums where people were having trouble. I installed the 1st game in less than 5 minutes and it worked on the 1st try and has worked everytime since with no problems!!! Works perfect on my new Windows 7, there are a couple of draw backs, the game no longer supports updates or even the manual so you will have to dig around online if you want that stuff as well, I never played these games so a manual would make it so so much easier. All and all I'm very happy with the purchase and I am very much enjoying the games. ... show more

    • Whatever they did to compress this game onto a dvd disc ruined it.
I had the original Baldur's Gate II discs and been playing it so I decided to buy this for the expansion and first Baldur's Gate. After installing it on my computer I found numerous problems. The game repeatedly froze and would ask for me to insert the program disc when changing screens but would not recognize the discs. It simply doesn't work. I tried to uninstall and start over and same problem. Tried various levels of install from minimum to custom nothing worked. Waste of money. ... show more

If you were ever one of those people who loved the pen and paper version of dungeons and dragons you owe it to yourself to pick up these games. They are STILL the best role playing games. With this collection you will have countless hours of entertainment (100+ hrs easily). The storyline of this series is one of the best. graphically, it is dated, but still works on a Windows 7 64bit OS. I've had no issues with the games and they still to this day run flawlessly. BG1 is available on [...] for $[...] USD digitally, but I prefer a hard copy of these games. Amazon was quick on delivery and I had no issues in the packaging. ... show more

This game, along with about four or five others (thief, deus ex, homam2, ff7, jedi knight), are the only really good single-player computer games. Why is Baldur's gate so high up there? Huge game world full--really full--of things for your character to do or not do with plenty of consequences either way, tons of characters to interact with, some very difficult and challenging sequences, and huge replay value for the wide variety of characters the game lets you create. It even has a fairly good-quality story to go along with it. Get this game from whatever source you can. ... show more

I've spent two days trying to get this to use the multi-player option. I installed it on an old XT laptop and still can't get it to work. Using a patch I'm able to play in single-player mode on my Win-7, laptop. I already know about the new version that can be played online. Look at it. It's not the same game. I don't want "new and improved." I've been looking for older computers, like an XT (Not XP) on the internet so I can install DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.11. I like these older games. Games like this "4 in 1 Box Set..." doesn't work on today's computers without a patch and even then it won't play over the internet or serial port or null-modem. This is one of the best games ever created. It was top rated for years! There are characters and a story-line. Not just kill everybody not in your squad but a real RPG! Travel. Talk to people in the game. Learn. Advance in the story. There's plenty of combat. Even a couple pick-pockets that will steal from your party. Some party members (NPCs) will abandon your party if you are acting too evil or ignoring their needs (side quests). This is a great game. However, expect to play it by yourself. All the other characters will be NPCs (Non-Player Characters). ... show more
