Description

Product description The Texas Instruments TI-85 has been designed as a graphing calculator for engineering and calculus students; yet it is versatile enough for other math applications. Designed with students of higher math in mind, the TI-85 is a scientific calculator that offers a wealth of features and functions that will take you smoothly from pre-algebra all the way through college calculus. Its data I/O port and unit-to-unit link (compatible with all TI-85 and TI-86 models) allow you to easily transfer your final graphs and equations among systems, while the 28K RAM and customizable menu keys provide quick access to necessary programming functions. As you advance through classes, simply reprogram the keys to keep up with your new textbook chapters. Functions are widely varied, and include the ability to solve for systems-of-equations, polynomial-root, or any variable in an equation. Graphing possibilities include parametric equations, polar equations, and solutions to differential equations. Statistical analysis runs the gamut from linear, logarithmic, exponential and power to quadratic polynomial, cubic polynomial, and quartic polynomial regressions. In addition, data is viewable as strings, pictures, or vectors. Simultaneous separate graph capability and 15 interactive zoom features are also included. The display is a generous eight lines long and 21 characters wide; this unit is powered by four AAA batteries, with a dependable long-life lithium ion providing memory backup. Texas Instruments includes a one-year warranty covering parts and service. What's in the Box TI-85, lithium backup battery, link cable, guidebook with warranty card, and impact-resistant slide case; AAA batteries not included

  • 25 years of using this model
I purchased a second calculator for the office, my original one had been with me over 25 years. The new one has smaller decals for the numbers, but otherwise excellent.

  • Product did not work properly.
The product does turn on but when you enter anything, the screen dims down very badly. Bought it for my Granddaughter and she lives elsewhere so it is very inconvenient to return it. I had her go and buy some very good batteries to make sure they were strong enough to drive it but still didn't help. Dissapointed but I don't think it was sold that way on purpose. I bought her a new one very similar from Wal Mart so she is back in business. ... show more

  • Thought I had reviewed this item.
I was happy to find this calculator for a cheaper price, because I have had it stolen from me twice. The second time I replaced it brand new, and these little buggers are expensive. I was happy to see that the product worked, all of its functions work and the battery works just fine. It is an older model than the calculators I had and the buttons look more original. It does not look too old. I would not have known if I had not already purchased two of them. I no longer take my calculator to public places with me where it can be stolen. I leave it at home unless I absolutely have to use it. What is wrong with those people? Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. No, you may not use my calculator. ... show more

  • Not user-friendly.
I purchased the TI-85 hoping to save some money. Unfortunately, the TI-85 is much less user-friendly than the more popular TI-83. Graphing is trickier, and if there's a way to bring up a table view instead of a graph view, I still haven't found it (I bought mine used so I didn't get a manual). Also, the calculator does not have a key to convert decimals to fractions. If you just need to use this as a basic scientific calculator, then it will get the job done for you. If you need to do more complex math and graphs, save up some extra money and buy a TI-83. ... show more

  • great for the price
the product was a little more worn than I expected and I did have some trouble with one of the functions at first. However after I contacted the seller, they helped me figure out how to fix the issue. Since then it has worked great.

  • great service, on time and works well. In good shape.
Product delivered very quickly and works fine, which I greatly appreciate. I just didn't realize that it was not the most recent version of the TI Graphing calculator. I should have purchased a TI-83 of TI-84. That was my mistake, but it was a little pricey for being the older version.

  • That's not to say that TI makes bad products, because they don't
This calculator should be half the price for the dearth of utility and functions it has, but since it is one of very calculators allowed in most math classes TI can afford to rip you off. That's not to say that TI makes bad products, because they don't, but if you need something useful the TI-89 is a hell of lot better value. ... show more

  • Outdated
This is a good calculator, but it's way outdated, about twenty years. You would be much better off getting the original TI-Nspire, which should be around $60. The keys on this one are hard to press without getting other keys, and they don't always register. The menus are complicated, and although it works well, it has too much hassle for me to enjoy using it. ... show more
