One of my 10-year old red-eared sliders started getting something white on his back which I had never seen before, so I looked it up and someone recommended these conditioners for hard water. My 2 sliders have a 50 gallon tank so it's hard to use all purified water to refill and I recently cleaned their filter and tank (added about half water which is more than usual since it was dirty) and I used drops to soften the water but I guess it wasn't enough. Within 2-3 days I started to see a huge improvement and now at day 5 there's just a little white. I was going to clean it off but he's super skiddish so thought I'd see if this worked first. I've bought these a few times now and I'm just not really sure if they provide any benefit. They drop into the water and start a slow fizz and release whatever they contain into the water. They say it lasts up to 60 days, but I'm not sure if they mean the effects or if the block itself should take 60 days to dissolve. Mine are usually gone within the week. My turtle doesn't seem to have ill effects, so maybe they help. ... show more
