I'm thinking 2024-25 winter in Chicago area is going to be very cold this year so I'm doing some pro-active planning for pond. When I added it to my cart, Amazon shows I had purchased this same Tetra air pump in November of 2021 and I have to say it has been going strong 24/7 in my pond since then. It's been very quiet and super reliable. I had purchased a well-know pond company's air pump a few times previously and they never lasted a year. In addition to replacing the defective diaphragm, sometimes you will want to ensure that O rings between the flat surfaces are squeezed with some pressure. To do so, you can grind off all the protrusions on the white thing from the O rings side by a sand paper ~600 on a flat surface and then bend the four corners of it backwards a little with a lighter help (like a lighter for fireplace). Why did you pick this product vs others?: This product had a 30ft power cord, got good reviews, and it was not expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for. I installed it in April and it worked great until today. Dead as a doornail with barely 3 months use.

Been running in one of my ponds for a month, works as well as any other pumps. I’ve been using more pricy brands in my two ponds, and even recently recommended the other brand to a friend who bought a new house with a pond. Two pumps gave out at the same time after 4 years, I had one back up of the other brand, and thought I’d run that one one one pond and this one in another, and see which one is more reliable over the long haul and update review here at Amazon. I used the included adapters to blend into one stone, and this pump matches the air flow of the single output of the more pricey pump. The tubing is better quality with the Tetra, and the square stone seems to produce more air bubbles. In fact, I used one of the Tetra stones and replaced the round that came with the other pump. Also the included check valves is a nice feature that also does not come with the more expensive cousin on the other pond. So I used the extra check valve from this purchase to add more safety to the other, more expensive pump. Starting to see the trend? This less expensive model included parts, I’ve been using on the other more expensive pump that does not include them. I like the two outputs on this Tetra. In winter, condensation in the line can freeze and limit or block air flow, so I may go to two in winter to lesson the chance of a line freeze up and a pond freeze over. Less money, more included parts, better quality accessory parts, and the output on this and more expensive model are the same. More expensive has 2 or 3 year warranty, this has 1 year. We will see in the long haul which one is more cost effective, and update the review then. This early in the pump-off, this Tetra is winning. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I used this pump for the entire winter last year and it never stopped working. I live in New Hampshire where temps in the winter get below zero almost every night and most days. My goldfish survived the winter in his pond because of this pump. The pond never froze over in the area where the O2 was pumping which allowed him to live out the winter in the pond. I have the pump running again this winter and so far, so good! I did have to use new tubing when I installed the pump at the beginning of this winter because the old tubing had gotten a little stretched out and brittle, but with the new tubing inserted, it's working great! Update*Third year of using this pump through the winter. Runs like a horse. Keeps the water from freezing and keeps my goldfish alive! ... show more

Based on what I've seen so far, my biggest problem will be multiple trips outside to verify it's still running! This is the quietest pump I've ever used! Easy to set up and that long cord lets me plug into the outlet on the house, much better, and way safer, than what I had to use before. Very happy so far! ... show more
