I’ve had the bag for just under a year now, and the main flaws are: - The waist belt doesn’t have any padding. Not comfortable at all, to the point where I tend to just use the chest strap. - The hydration bladder included isn’t the best quality - I bought a separate one to upgrade it (but it’s nice to have as a backup!) - I think the lack of a second compartment hurts the bag (you’ve got one small front pocket, one upper small pocket, and one large compartment) That being said - I’d buy this bag again! Great for short and long hikes, and it’s a perfect size (22L). It’s got space for a full 3L bladder, rain gear, food, FAK, etc. The support and straps are decent (minus the waist belt). The built-in rain cover is amazing - I never realized how much I loved it until I tried it. Overall, it’s got some flaws, but none of them are dealbreakers for me - especially at this price! ... show more

Great little back pack. I do not use the bladder, cannot comment on this feature, but the pack overall is perfect for day hikes. I work on hiking trails and this hold what I need for the day perfectly (lunch, extra water, rain jacket, gloves, loppers, hand saw, sit pad, with a small separate compartment for safety glasses, sunscreen and car keys). My only complaint is there is no external place for hiking poles. But once I removed the bladder, the slots at the top for the water mouth piece works perfect to slide each pole down inside the pack. Also, hasn't rained on me yet therefore I cannot comment on the attached rain cover. ... show more

    • So close ….straps very stiff and hard
Initial review. Just got this pack 22l. The design in terms of pockets is perfect, exactly what I wanted. Size, bigger than expected and fit what I need in it. Rain cover tucked in the bottom adds padding to the bottom of the pack, which gif me is good. The straps are so uncomfortable. I am not small- 5ft 7in and160lbs. The straps are very hard and are wide apart, they rub my arms. Am currently wearing the pack at my desk while I work to see if I can break the straps in, that bend to conform to my body so as not to rub my arms. Will update more after first hike. ... show more

I have been using this backpack for about a year. I use it for short and long hikes. I appreciate the side pockets, two zipper pockets on the back, and the two larger zippers for storage and/or hydration bladder. I think the quality is great and expect it last me a very long time.

Teton Oasis 22 vs 18 ... get the 22! They are almost the same size, but the 22 is a bit wider and has a more useful storage profile. You can't tell the difference between the packs when wearing them, except at the 22 really does fit more. Also, the 22 comes with a 3 gallon water bladder instead of 2 gallon. Background: I own expensive packs from Osprey, The North Face, Camelback, Gregory, etc. Oasis Teton is the best value price pack I own, for the money. For $60 you have features that are very comparable to $150+ pack, with a very high quality, construction and tremendous thought put into usability and comfort. Add US based awesome customer service = no brainer PROs: - Comfort back & shoulder padding. Allows ventilation, sweat, breathability. - removable rainfly cover included. This means that if you end up in a heavy rainstorm, you can keep your pack completely dry! - Pack is already water resistant - excellent US based customer service. I called to find out. Answer on a few rings, ready to do whatever is needed to maintain your satisfaction. - well thought out compartments - water compartment/laptop compartment - includes 3 gallon water bladder (untested by me) - Quality/reinforced construction - this pack easily withstood wear and tear on wet, muddy adventures with sharp rocks. In comparison, no namebrand Costco backpacks have torn under similar circumstances, but the material of this pack was significantly better. No tears and any dirt wiped up very easily. - good looking colors - could replace water bladder with a 13.3" or 14" laptop (but not room for both) - waist straps can tuck up into the side elastic pouches, if desired CONS: - A trade-off in waist/belt comfort (compared to market leader Osprey) - A very small trade-off in quality (compared to market leader Osprey) - debatable if there is much difference - I did not test the water bladder, which will be a significant variable for many people I used this pack for a weeklong vacation in Hawaii. I brought it the following: - clipboard with maps, park entrance passes, etc - rain jacket - flip flops - change of shorts and shirt - bug spray & sunblock - sun hat - journal + book + Bible + highlights - Mavic Mini - selfie stick/tripod - A little bit of room to spare for specifics needed for each adventure (hiking in the mountains, beaches, snorkeling) Bottom line: - it's hard to find a better pack for the price. For most people, this is a very high-quality pack that will provide minimal sweat, comfort, plenty of storage, and look good. - For outdoor obsessed people, consider an upgrade to Osprey or Gregory for better waist weight bearing straps. ... show more

I really like the functionality of this pack. It has enough storage space for a variety of needs - extra clothes, first aid kit, snacks, water bottles (plus water bladder) and is still comfortable. I appreciate the multiple compartments, as it's always annoying to have to hunt for small items in the big pockets (no need with this pack). The many adjustable straps allow me to create a fit that feels best for me. Waist and chest straps are simple (no padding) but really help distribute the pack weight for a comfortable multi-hour hike. Small enough to sit on the car floor next to my feet but big enough to store quite a bit for a full-day adventure. ... show more
