Have been using Testors for years. Paints lay and set-up nicely. Can gloss or flatten easily, allows for a good wash, if desired. Only issue is pricing. Use to pay about 4-5 dollars for the same kit, but they still do the job.

    • Good variety of colors in the set.
With the variety of primary colors you can make other colors you need. Who knew red, yellow and blue, in equal parts make brown? Lol The colors are bright and vivid. Be patient and let it dry completely before handling or touching up. I've used Testors paint for many years. I would recommend it to everyone. ... show more

I ordered a couple of hobby kits for my train set up, and it needs to be painted to do justice to the purchase. I am not doing anything fancy, such as weathering, etc., nor using an airbrush to apply the paint. The old school method, with a brush. Good coverage with the balsa wood, less so on the copper wires. It dries quickly, but not so quick that one has problems. The amount of paint thinner is ridiculous, so I have two containers for thinner. The first one takes almost all the paint from the brush, and the second does a finishing effort. The brush supplied is good for tiny work, but one would need a larger brush for any decent amount of areas. The supplied brush seemed very cheap, but actually did a nice job for small areas. The silver paint is metallic silver as is the gold. As far as a paint tray, all the bottles fit in a plastic “tray”, so unless one is doing palette type work for mixing, it is useless. A small amount of paint cannot be isolated on the tray. It is meant for a beginning paint set with just the basic colors. All the colors are glossy. If a person is wanting to get really fancy with their paint work, this set is probably not the one to get. I might have preferred a flat black to gloss black, but so be it. ... show more

Used to be able to buy Testor's model paint any where growing up. not anymore. So again, thanks Amazon. The paints came quick. And are as pictured. All very fresh. All paints are an Enamel, and Gloss meaning they can only be cleaned or diluted by thinner which is provided, or mineral spirits.. Each container has 1/4 fluid oz. of the following colors. Red, Green, Yellow, Dark Blue, White, White, Black, Gold, Silver with a 1/4fl.oz. of Thinner and a cheap white plastic brush. For those that remember, and those that don't know. The paint brush is, and always has been, a joke. So if you plan on doing much painting with this set, and using the different colors. You'll need more thinner. Doesn't have to be Testors. Any mineral spirits or kerosene will do the trick. You'll definitely need it come clean up time as well or you'll wind up throwing your paint brush away. As far as this set goes. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who had a need for it. The price is right. And the product is 100%. Just get some better brushes. ... show more
