This is the second pack of these i have purchased. Very functional to save extension cords that are damaged. Wish they were designed a bit bigger to allow for an inside knot or even a clamp to hold the wire into the female end. To begin there wasn't any instruction in the product. OK how hard is attaching a plug end to a wire... Poor design. Difficult to attach the wires to the internal screws as there isn't a shoulder for the wire to squeeze against. As I tighten my 14ga stranded wire it squeezes away from the screw creating a very poor connection. I then tried attaching terminal ends to the wires but then there wasn't enough room in the case to close it up after. I do not recommend this budget female plug end. ... show more

The hole is 3/8 inch in diameter so it will fit a heavy gauge cord like for a lawnmower. I installed it on a vacuum cleaner cord after sliding a short piece of plastic hose over the cord to take up space and fit snugly. There is no kind of clamp to hold the plug to the cord. The screw on the prong isn't big enough to attach a thick wire to it like a lawnmower cord. After you screw the wire to the prong you have to fit the wire into the hook on the prong so the wire is out of the way or the plug won't slide all the way into it's housing. It took me a few minutes to figure that out. For my first attempt at assembly I tied an Underwriters Knot to keep the cord from pulling out, but after a few failed attempts I undid the knot so I was sure the plug would slide all the way into the housing. Done. It works. I'm turning old vacuum cleaner cords into extension cords. ... show more
