Description
Notes: Use an air bulb to blow off any loose contaminants from the optic surface before proceeding to the cleaning steps. Lay the lens tissue on the optic's surface. Using an eyedropper, squeeze a few drops of acetone onto the lens tissue, wetting the complete optic's diameter. Without lifting the lens tissue, drag the lens tissue across the optic just fast enough so that the liquid evaporates behind the tissue. This should leave no streaks. Dampen an unused cotton swab or cotton ball with white distilled vinegar. Using light pressure, wipe the optic's surface with the damp cotton. Wipe excess distilled vinegar with a clean dry cotton swab. Immediately dampen a cotton swab or cotton ball with acetone. Gently wipe the optic's surface to remove any acetic acid.

For the price it is a good focusing lens

Yah sure it is not an American made high end optic but then again most of us using Co2 laser cutters aren't running high end American made machines. Vast majority are of Asian origin machines. If I was using a high end machine I might swap to high end optics. For now these do the job on a 45 watt machine ( they say it is a 50 watt machine but not likely). I am a retired Laser engineering tech and prior field service engineer on CO2 and YAG laser so I am extremely versed in laers..optics etc. If I were to upgrade ( and I will) my stock chinese laser tube to a true 60 watt tube and modify the cavity to fit the tube ( which is easy)...then I will, at that time, order new optics all the way around as it would be a good time to suffer the pain of a full optics replacement and full alignment. Til then I will use these style optics as they work fine as long as you keep your system clean. I can tell you, as any true laser field service guy can, that dirty optics are by far the leading problems we faced...probably 60-70 percent of all calls were optics related and dirty or burnt optics led the way. You can clean these ZiSe optics with either a good alcohol ( not jim beam) or I will use eyegless wipes if they are mainly alcohol. Unless you are seriously harsh in cleaning them they will clean and run fine. I have had them so bad they lost 70 percent power to the work surface and was able to clean them back to close to spec power. granted they will need cleaning more often as once you get a slight burn scar on an optic is tends to burn or get "dirty" sooner but just keep an eye on power or how the laser is engraving. Most of us even myself do not have laser power meters...wish I did but too much money for me. I use a power puck now and then though...works just fine. Anyway back to the optic...sure it is not the best you can get but I find they work fine for most lasers under 100 watts. Above 80 or so watts I might wonder but for 40-60 watt machines no problem....even 80 watts I would be fine with.

Works but focus and transparency are problematic

I bought this replace the original lens which has a fl of 2 inch. I need to have larger working depth since we are engraving on a spherical surface. The one I bought is 4 inch FL. After testing, we found the focus spot is much larger than the original, which is somehow ok. But compared to the original lens, this lens only allow 1/2-2/3 of the power passed through, which significantly reduced the engrave depth and final look. We are an Amazon seller too - we understand the pain of selling on Amazon. We will not return it because it is what it is. It works but just not as good as expected.

Excellent lens for the price and very accurate cut

I was very satisfied and surprized by the immediate improvement in my engraving and cutting. The meniscus type lens provides a finer focus point and what appears to be a longer “sweet spot” for cutting. I read the issues with the lens cracking but I believe it is just user error.

Good lens for Chinese laser machine

I have a 60W Chinese laser machine and this lens is similar in style to the ones that come with them. Works great and cuts deeper than the 1.5inch that came with it. If you buy a lens for your laser machine, just keep in mind the higher you go in (inches) the taller the focal point ( Distance from your work piece to the laser head) my laser machine is designed with the round part of the lens facing down. Hope some of that info is useful for you buyers...

best upgrade for the k40, 18mm 2"/50.8

this lens was the best upgrade for the k40 with lightobject air assist lens holder, burns way cleaner and beam is more focused than the small factory lens that come with k40, will definitely be buying more just as a backup set of lenses

Replacement lens works great. Point of caution

Replacement lens works great. Point of caution. The lens will crack if you are over ambitions tightening it. A simple screwdriver in the pin hole works but requires lots of force. I 3d printed a tool with two finishing nails as the pins. The holes are not aligned on the center of the nut so 3d printing allowed a custom fit. New lens went in perfectly after that and it is performing well.
