Yes, I know, you can get all kinds of metronome apps for your smartphone. Still, there's something cool about the old school wind-up metronome, like we have here. I use it while practicing the violin and it's loud enough to be heard without having to resort to headphones, keeping things simple. It's easy to use, just wind it, slide the weight to the tempo you want and free the pendulum. My only complaint is the kinda cheesy simulated wood plastic case. Real wood would have been classier, but likely would cost a lot more.

It’s plastic and looks cheap. It is cheap and works well. If u want something nice for ur grand piano then buy a real wood one. This works fine

I have used an electronic metronome for years in my violin practice. The pocket electronic metronome can be difficult to hear over the instrument right near my ear. This metronome is pitched high enough and is loud enough to be easily heard. It is easy to operate. I have also noticed that my students unconsciously sway slightly with the arm as they anticipate the start of their piece. In my opinion anything that helps students internalize the tempo is a good thing. The case is textured woodgrain plastic. Mine is mahogany in color. I find that it looks pretty close to real wood from about 2 ft away. Very attractive on my 1914 era piano
