Let me preface my review by stating I do not like climbing ladders taller than 6' and that affects my comfort on any ladder. Since I don't have a need to climb 10' – 12' very often, this ladder was intriguing. It collapses to quite a small size so it's easily stored. Since I am uncomfortable on ladders, I read a lot of the reviews on this one before attempting to climb it. I appreciate some of the tips others have suggested. The first thing I did was to add metal washers when assembling the plastic parts of stabilizer bar. This ladder seems well made and it extends easily. Collapsing it is a bit jarring as the rungs come down fast and hard when you release them. The instructions clearly warn that you have to keep your fingers and hands on the outside of the ladder when you release the rungs. They would do some serious damage if your fingers were in the way. There were several complaints that the ladder flexes a little when fully extended and that is correct but I didn't feel like it was dangerous. It's the nature of having it collapse so small. I found adjusting the stabilizing bar a bit of a challenge. When it set horizontally, it held solidly but, when I angled it a little downward so that I could get the ladder closer to my house, the stabilizer bar collapsed when just a little weight was put on it. I will be replacing the hex nuts that attach it to the ladder with wing nuts to make moving the stabilizer from one rung to another easier. (Depending on how high you need to go, the stabilizer may need to be moved to a different rung. I was able to use this ladder to install a solar light above my garage door and the ladder provided plenty of height to do that. Despite my edginess of climbing the ladder, I felt solid and didn't move. As with any ladder, it would be better to have someone stabilizing the ladder at ground level but I was able to use it by myself. I weigh 180 lbs. and I didn't ever feel like the ladder was going to collapse under my weight. It felt very solid. The rungs are narrower than I would like but, again, that's part of it being compact. The ladder stayed in place when I used it and did not feel like it would slip at all but I was using it on my concrete driveway. I was not super comfortable on the ladder but, as I mentioned, I'm not comfortable on ladders in general. I think this ladder is handy for occasional use. I rarely have a need to get up 10' so this ladder may only be used once a year or less. For that purpose, it's practical and will work fine. If you need to use a ladder on a regular basis, a traditional one is a better option. It will feel more solid and give you wider rungs for your comfort. The price is fairly comparable to other collapsing ladders I looked at.
