I only gave this ladder a 3 because I didn’t realize it was so heavy so even though storage is easier and it feels sturdy its not easy to move around with just one person. This ladder had no issues after purchase and we used it for my workplace to be able to reach the high ceilings. You don’t have to use the hooks but be aware that it’s very heavy. Sturdy but heavy. We can store it better than a regular full sized ladder that just opens but the weight is the same.

This review is for the 26 ft version of the ladder. I need this length for my specific application which is to reach the top of my chimney. The first issue is the rungs are too far apart. My other ladders have 12 inch spacing, so I'm guessing that is a standard gap, but this ladder has 17 1/2 inch spacing. I am average height and this was a big step for me. The second issue is the flex in the ladder. With the ladder fully extended, at about half way up the ladder, it flexed so much that the ladder higher up was nearly flat against the chimney. I used the standard one foot from the chimney for every four feet of rise. The issue seems to be the play in the side rails of the ladder. When in the down position, the side tubes slide into each other with each higher tube being smaller than the one below it. There is a gap between each of these different sized telescoped rails to allow them to move freely. When extended, this gap and the small overlap of the tubes allows a pivot point. If the tubes overlapped more and/or fit more tightly, it might reduce the flex, but would probably also make it harder to raise and lower. I did not feel safe climbing this ladder, so I am returning it. I will post my return experience.

I've really enjoyed this ladder. Mine came without instructions but a quick online video helped. The bottom bar has to be installed. There are some plastic tubes where the bottom bar goes. These have to be knocked out before you can install the bottom bar. I used a hammer and screwdriver. When you look at it you might think the rivets go all the way through but they don't. The feet, all 4 of them, are very heavy rubber. From outside to the middle they are black then yellow outside the rail. The wheels go just inside the rails. It seems easier to put all of those on the bottom bar before mounting the bar. There is a strap that will keep the ladder from extending accidentally. The wheels can help move it on firm ground. It's about 30 pounds so rolling would be nice. The ladder should be extended from the bottom up. I tried the easier way - pulling the lighter top rungs up first - but then I wound up with several steps together on the bottom and couldn't safely step over them. So pull the top out until you have the total length you want. If there are un-expanded rungs on the top, that makes the ladder a little top heavy. There are removable hooks for the top for limbs etc. There are two push levers for each rung. You push them in and the segment above it collapses to 1 inch above the push levers. Be Careful! The rungs above the levers come down fast and the more there are the more force the exert. If you can, put it on the ground or get help. It is very sturdy. There is very little sway even at full length. I feel secure on it. When it's collapsed it's easy to carry under my arm and store in the garage. Getting it into the garage or house is very much easier than getting the one piece ladders inside. It's not cheap but the price seems OK for what you are getting.

Ladies: buy a term life policy on your husband for $1M and then give him this ladder for father's day. You will surely collect! You must open the ladder all the way or you can't make the first step; the flex at the top is such that you'll be as one with the wall as you approach the top and finally, when you're collapsing the ladder, you'll lose a few fingers.
