I'm extremely satisfied with this telescope! It's simply the perfect starting point for kids—easy to set up, lightweight and portable, and the tripod is very sturdy. I will be returning this. I purchased it for my 5-year-old, and it is easy to assemble and use, but it is more basic than I'd hoped. Good for play, but not so much for real sky-viewing. It "zooms" in and out (by pushing the lens forward and backward), but we cannot figure out a way to truly adjust the focus/clarity (the "focus" knob just pushes the lens forward), so nothing is showing up clearly; everything we try to see is blurry and small. I will purchase something that he can actually use to view the sky and that will be more educational.

I bought this telescope as a beginner option and it has worked well for what I wanted, which was simple stargazing without a steep learning curve. The setup was straightforward and I had it ready to use quickly without needing extra tools or experience. The controls and adjustments are basic, which actually helps when learning how to aim and focus without getting frustrated. On clear nights, I was able to find and see Jupiter and Saturn, which was impressive for an entry level scope. The image quality was clear enough to recognize planets and enjoy looking at the moon without constant refocusing. It feels sturdy for casual backyard use and handled being moved around without issues. I like that it comes as a complete kit so there was nothing else I needed to buy to get started. This would work well for kids or adults who are new to astronomy and want something approachable. It is not meant for advanced viewing, but that is expected at this level. For the price, I think it is priced appropriately for what it offers. Overall, it does what it claims and makes learning the basics of stargazing enjoyable.
