Only had for a few months a decent umbrella so far but the rubber or plastic coating on the handle melts off and leaves sticky residue. Have used for sunshine only. I don't have faith this will hold up in rain based in the cheap fabrication of the handle.

Before writing this review, I waited until I had a chance to use this umbrella at least twice. I needed a new travel umbrella since my previous one disappeared into the bowels of my teenager's room. The thing that caught my eye about this one is that it is slightly larger than my last one and is supposed to be windproof, one area my previous one was weak on. So far in testing, it has held up to the wind. Not quite a squall, but a few solid gusts. IT didn't even flinch. It dried quickly and operates smoothly. Everything you usually need in a compact travel umbrella. One thing you should be aware of (as others have mentioned) is that it is heavier than other compact umbrellas I have owned. I'm going to guess this is due to the reinforced ribs. Personally, I would rather have it be a bit heavier and able to withstand strong winds than be lighter. But it's something to be aware of if weight is a priority for you. ... show more
