Fill it up and watch the water bubble up the glass tube and over your coffee grounds for delicious coffee in 4-6 minutes. the Moccamaster KBG coffee brewer has two switches the one on the left controls the power and will turn off automatically after 100 minutes. I got my first ever Technivorm Moccamaster (in black) today and I’m so excited to own this beautiful machine! 😍 — Positives: I can say without a doubt, I’m very happy with this coffee machine. It seems to be built very well and it brews very very fast (I believe it was under/around 5 mins, so much faster than my other coffee makers). I really appreciate that I can choose to leave the hotplate on or off and on high or low. One big issue we had with other machines is the hotplate burning the glass carafe bottom and the hotplate itself getting all burned up from coffee dripping on it and etc. The water cup/tank is not detachable that I can see (might be possible if you unscrew it?) but that’s okay with me, almost all my old machines had the water tank built in and they weren’t removable. And I prefer the water cup/tank being separate from the coffee grounds since I really disliked how some other machines would get coffee grounds in the water occasionally. Taste (updated): So far I haven’t been able to try completely fresh grounded coffee in the machine as I need a grinder but I can say it definitely makes a smooth and great cup of coffee even using something like Folgers or Starbucks. I’ll update this once I get a grinder and try my favorite coffee from a place here in Seattle called Seattle Coffee Works. PS, their downtown location makes thee best iced mochas/mochas, so addicting!! Update: I’ve now had this machine for over a year and it’s still great. Only issue is personal, I started drinking tea instead of coffee due to some health issues however my boyfriend uses it daily and is happy. But I wanted to update about using a higher quality, freshly ground coffee. I did try this before I stopped drinking coffee and it was great, so smooth but to be honest I’m not sure this machine makes it that much better than any coffee makers so if you have your eyes on another product that cost less it really may not matter. I feel if you really want to make coffee that taste different, maybe French press or something would be better? But there’s for sure a difference in how this taste vs a cheap coffee maker with hazardous plastic parts. Looks: As far as looks, I love the unique style of this machine and how solid it seems to be. It’s delicate and a beast at the same time. The electric cord is very strong and decently long, it’s also a 3 prong (grounded) plug. Awe Factor: Due to it being new, I ran water through the machine a few times to clean it and was in aww just watching it‘s magic. I seriously never cared to watch any other machine do what it does, until this one. Extra: A big plus to me was getting a machine that was 100% made (including parts) in either USA or Europe. My overall hope is that this is a machine that last a good amount of time or at least the 5 years (since that’s what the warranty is). If your okay spending quite a bit more, I would definitely recommend! —— A bit of a Con (kind of): The one downside I can find so far is if you don’t drink all the coffee before it auto turns off in 1 and 1/2 hours, it will get cold. This has been a challenge for my boyfriend and I because he gets up around 5am and I get up around 7am and by then the coffee isn’t warm for me so I’ll have to completely clean and remake a pot (unless we get a thermal or something that can keep it hot longer). That’s not a deal breaker though since it does brew so fast.

I read and reread tons of reviews. The pro's the con's the complaints and those with true appreciation as too why the Technivorm Moccamaster has made them so steadfast in their positive reviews. My five star rating and the reasoning behind it is really quite simple. Is the plastic parts in essence the basket and lids are flimsy, does it matter NO, the coffee pot lid may break . Probably if you are hard on it (as would on any part on any coffee maker. The coffee produced from the Moccamasger is so pleasing, so much more of what I had hoped brewed dripped coffee could be. I can only speak for. myself, I know what I like and for me you can not get a better drip coffee maker anywhere on the planet! See for yourself!

I really like this coffee maker. No matter how strong I make the coffee it never tastes bitter. It’s also super fast. I prefer using paper filters rather than the “permanent” type. I especially like how its narrow profile tucks away against the wall. I found it on sale before Christmas which was a plus. But it’s definitely worth the regular price in my opinion.

I have had a lot of coffee makers and this one is right up there. Its not going to transform your coffee, its not that big of a difference. But here is what stands out. Slow drop cone filters seem to make a sold mild cup of coffee. Not bitter, not too strong. I buy whole beans and grind them to my liking which is somewhat medium to fine on the grind.

Life was good......once or twice each morning, my Rancilo Rocky grinder and I finely ground some beautiful, dry-processed Ethiopian Harrar, put coffee in the stainless stove-top espresso pot, or into the Breville Espresso machine. I enjoyed my espresso at my leisure. And then I got a promotion & a problem.....had to be @ work earlier. Now I had to carry my coffee and carry more of it. Flipped back to using a 20-yr-old automatic. So so, but wasn't as hot as stovetop, ran through filter too fast, before coffee had a chance to bloom, and was wasting expensive coffee. I thought about everything I'd want in a perfect machine....I preferred the full body of a stovetop espresso. and the higher temperature of the stovetop, the bloom time in a French Press or a simple pour over that gave the coffee its fullest flavor, but I needed the speed and amount produced in something automatic. So I had a problem. I decided it was necessary to be automatic....and an automatic with a copper heating element, one that hit coffee with hot enough water, that allowed the coffee to bloom, followed by a slow drip, and coffee that was full bodied and hot. Just a perfect coffee pot....no bells, no whistles, no clocks, or grinders, or timers, solid body, preferably not made in china,....and, because I roll this way, it needed to be as aesthetically pleasing on the counter as the Rancilio Grinder. And then, TA-DA! [cue opera singer, hands and face raised to the parting clouds] The Technivorm Moccamaster! At a tad over $300, it took me weeks to justify, but I finally bit the bullet and ordered. Came immediately, and soon my delicious coffee was now even better. Seriously! It was shocking to me how much better the right temperature and right drip speed can make. NOTE: some say when coffee is poured, it can spill. It can happen.....but only if you put too fast. Grasp the handle and rest thumb lightly on lid thumb tab. [if you push down, lid opens.] So just rest thumb at top of handle so that you are gently holding lid in place and pour. And pour slowly and deliberately. into your thermos/cup. Too fast and coffee will spill out a little on each side. THIS IS NOT A DESGIN FLAW....this spilling is a 21st century 'too much of a hurry' issue.

This is my first Amazon review since 2009, but because I don't want anyone else to feel as disappointed as I am, I want to share my experience. Like the other 1 star reviewer stated, I researched for 4 weeks before buying a new coffee pot. We were moving from Kuerig to freshly ground and brewed. I wanted a good coffee pot. I chose Technivorm because so many people said I should...........and I trusted the reviews. I had the coffee pot one month, and the coffee is hot, and it taste great. But honestly, the parts that do come apart for easy repalcement, were to my surprise, really cheap and come off the appliance like a feather. We fumbled with the cap to the pot, water tank and basket. The glass carafe feels like it would break too easily, But this was ok for me. I still liked it and was happy . But after one month of owning this, the tank decided to drain like a snail, and make a loud noise, (louder than my roomba). I looked at the manual, descaled 6 times. But even though I was within my return window with Amazon, I called Amazon support because I really wanted it to work and thought maybe I could get help vs. just returning it. AFter some troubleshooting and descaling again, Amazon support (who are great) said that they would reach out to Technivorn for guidance. And 24 hours later, I received that call and was on the call with Amazon and a rep from Technivorm. So I explained my problem with the machine and that I was hoping that he could help me with another troubleshooting problem even though I was within my return window. I actually was not even upset over it not working at this point, as things happen. So without asking me any more questions period........the company man, immediately said to me "well then you must have a particle or a bean stuck in the contained area if the descaling didn't work" and (this is the best and worst part that should keep you from buying this machine......) he then said "that isn't a warranty issue" and I can't guarantee that it would be a warrantied issue if you have a coffee bean stuck in the contained area". So, apparently, not only does he immediately think that I throw coffee beans in my water tank (WHAT!) and that coffee bean makes it way into the hand made compartment that is supposed to be so wonderful, that this must all be my fault. He immediately assumed that I wanted to warranty my machine and he just wasn't open up to that thought at all, and I got the message right away.. I am lucky that this happened to me before May 31 (my return date with Amazon) On june 1, I would have purchased a 349(with tax) coffee pot that I would have been stuck with because this company was not going to fix or repair it even though I wasn't asking them to. But if I was asking, you should know that based on my conversation with Mr. Moccoamaster in the Netherlands, that was not going to happen. When I finished y 30 second complete blow off phone call with Technivorm, the Amazon rep (she was great) asked if I wanted a replacement, and I politely refused. So off to UPS I went with my Amazon label, no box and a coffee pot that unfortunately, Amazon is now stuck with, because they won't be able to send it back to them either. But because Amazon is an awesome company and honors their return policy, I was lucky to be able to return this million dollar rip off. How disappointing this is. I am more disappointed in my conversation with Mr. Technivorm than I am that my 349 coffee pot broke after 1 month. He made me want to place a big red fat F on Technivorn as a company. I have never experienced a customer service experience like this before. So, to all you lovely coffee drinker lovers who think that you want the best, look elsewhere. because if your million dollar machine breaks (and yes, even the best breaks) I can assure you that Technivorm is so full of themselves, that they believe that their machine can't possibly break, So If I received a blow-off attitude directly from an employee from this small 200 employee cute company in the Netherlands that has been making cool coffee pots since the 70's, and I didn't even need the warranty , just imagine what will happen if you need to contact them for warranty replacement if your pot needs help 40 days or 4 years from now. Warranty for 5 years sounds great, but I don't think they will honor it for you. But considering that most reviews on this pot are good, you probably will buy it (just like I did), but please make sure that you don''t put objects like coffee beans or other particles in your water tank because apparently Mr. Technivorn thinks that is what I did. I have no words. How insulting. Who puts beans in their water tank.......... Thank you to Amazon and my customer service rep, Cyril. You were great.

I've owned and used the coffee maker since August 2020 and I'm not impressed. This may be the most overly complicated and overrated coffee maker I have ever used. To make a carafe of coffee, you have to remove the carafe, remove the tank lid, remove the funnel lid and then remove the funnel. Put in your filter into the awkwardly designed funnel. Now put in coffee grounds and hope that you don't put in too much. It doesn't take much to cause the grounds to flow over the filter because of the funnels awkward design. Now, put the funnel back into the awkward holder while fumbling to find the alignment slots. Put the tank lid and funnel lid back. Put back the carafe. But there's more to consider. The valve at the bottom of the funnel doesn't always open. I've tried to adjust the carafe placement, the funnel placement and even checked the valve to see if it was sticking. Sometimes it just fails (15 to 20% of the time.) When it does fail, you have coffee all over the counter. Also, the glass carafe spout is too small to pour coffee easily. You have to be careful or it will easily spill over the rim of the carafe. Again, more coffee on your countertop. Now top all of this off with an overall awkward footprint. I couldn't just place the coffee maker on the countertop and under the cabinets. To go through the complicated tank refill process, the coffee maker had to be turned sideways and pulled out toward the edge of the counter. It takes up more counter space than the coffee maker's actual footprint. And to be honest, the coffee temp isn't that great. It works reasonably well but so do plenty of other coffee makers. The only reason I find the coffee really getting hotter on the Moccamaster is because of the hot plate that the carafe rests on. I've finally replaced this with a different brand. I can't recommend it. This is just a big hassle for a not-so-great payoff.
