  • Probably not for audiophiles, but definitely performs above its price
If you're an absolutely audiophile looking for an "immersive surround sound theatre experience with thunderous bass" or some other hyperbole, you're probably well advised to keep looking. If you're looking for a discreet, compact, and affordable sound bar and wireless sub that should satisfy most, this would probably be my first choice. I actually bought a second unit I had a high end (though somewhat ancient) Samsung surround sound system, and a not quite as old but equally as impressive Sharp bar and sub. Each proved to be too long after we made some recent layout changes. I'd be lying if I said the TCL sounds as rich, full, and boomy as the Samsung and Sharp but, given my new constraints, these units check lots of boxes and sound quite good while doing it. When I crank Amazon Music or Spotify through them, it'll still rock the room. In some ways the bass is even more reasonable than the Sharp unit was. Setup is a breeze and it can use an HDMI or optical cable. Again, this isn't going to provide a theatre experience, but if you're looking for a VAST improvement over your TV speakers and something that'll make your music channels sound good, you could do a whole lot worse than this TCL especially at this price point. ... show more

  • TCL S210W is Amazing for the Price amd under $100 Way Beyond What I Expected!
TCL S210W Review Punches way above its weight class, and far exceeded my expectations! Product Overview I have to say, this is an amazing soundbar for under $100. I’m honestly shocked at how good it sounds, especially considering it’s just two speakers in a 22-inch bar paired with a compact wireless sub. I set it up in my living room and did a sound comparison against a couple of other sets, including a refurbished VIZIO SV210X. After testing, I returned the VIZIO and kept this TCL. 🎶 Sound Performance To give you some context, I also own a $800 Sony 3.2.1 soundbar and wireless sub in my living (can’t recall the exact model), and while that system obviously has more power, this TCL held its own. The surround sound was just as immersive, if not better in some scenes, and the overall stage presence was huge. That’s impressive considering this is TCL’s entry-level S Class model. I did some research and found this S210W model consistently reviewed better than the newer VIZIO refurb I tried. The bass is surprisingly deep and clean for such a small sub. It doesn’t feel lacking or struggle with low notes. It’s not overly bass-heavy, but it matches beautifully with the soundbar. You don’t need to crank it, around 50% volume gives you full, clear sound that fills the room. ⚙️ Setup Experience Setup was another surprise. I plugged it in, connected it via HDMI ARC, and within seconds the TV picked it up. The soundbar even vocally confirmed HDMI ARC was active, and the sub connected automatically in under 10 seconds. No digging through menus, no pairing issues, just plug and play. That’s rare, especially at this price point. The menus are easy to navigate. You can basically just set everything midway—bass, treble, bass boost, surround—and it sounds great right out of the box. No need to fine-tune unless you’re chasing something ultra-specific. After testing it in the living room, I installed it in my son’s room, which was the original reason I bought it. He’s got a Google TV and a projector, and I assumed I’d need to run an HDMI cable to control volume. But the Bluetooth setup was just as easy. I paired it wirelessly, and the projector controlled the sound without needing a second remote. That blew me away. I expected to lose volume control over Bluetooth, but it worked seamlessly. I’m pretty tech-savvy, but honestly, anyone could set this up without instructions. It’s almost as simple as plugging it in, turning it on, and you’re ready to watch a movie or stream music. 🔨 Build Quality Build quality is excellent. The soundbar has a sleek matte finish and solid weight to it. The sub feels sturdy and well-built, not hollow or cheap. Compared to the other models I tested, this one clearly had the best construction. Nothing about it feels entry-level once it’s in your hands. 🌎 Real-World Use While it sounded great in the living room, it sounds even better in a bedroom setup. The bass becomes noticeably more pronounced and punchy, shockingly good, actually. In a larger living room, the sound feels more balanced overall, but still full and immersive. DTS Virtual:X and Dolby Audio work well and create a very immersive experience for movies. I noticed no latency issues, whether wired via HDMI or wireless via Bluetooth. It’s responsive, reliable, and surprisingly versatile across different environments. Being wireless shouldn’t be an issue, but make sure you corner-load the sub in whichever room you’re using it. That placement really unlocks its potential and lets the low-end shine. ✅ Final Verdict If you’re looking for sound that rivals older $800 setups for under $100, this is it. It swings way above its weight class. I’m honestly shocked they can make something this small and affordable sound this good. With Amazon’s return policy, it’s a no-brainer. That said, if you’re on the fence and considering other options, the Hisense HS2100 2.1 is just as good, if not slightly better, in terms of soundstage and bass depth. It has a wider presence and a bit more low-end punch. But when holding both side-by-side, build quality clearly goes to the TCL. In a small bedroom, I’d choose the TCL every time. In a larger living room, I’d probably lean toward the Hisense. Just something to keep in mind if you’re weighing your options. ... show more

  • 2.1 Sound Bar that Punches Well Above Its Weight
I've been a bit leery of sound bars in the past because they only seemed to be a small upgrade from the TV speakers in my opinion. I've much preferred 5.1 or 7.1 systems, but you don't always have the luxury of space for those. This is the first sound bar I've owned with a sub woofer and I have to say, it's pretty impressive. Setup: This was a total breeze. The subwoofer is wirelessly connected, so it just needed its own power. I used the HDMI ARC for the sound bar connection so it was just a matter of plugging the included HDMI cable into the TV and sound bar and connecting the power cord. My TV is on a wall mount so I mounted the soundbar a few inches below it as per the recommendation. One small thing that turned out to be a real delight feature for me was that the included template had holes pre-punched for the mounting screws so I just had to measure, level it, and hang it, then mark the holes. It was one of the easiest wall mounting jobs I've ever done. Once connected, my TV (also a TCL) immediately recognized the sound bar and did some sort of setup that flashed very quickly on the screen. Then it played a little sample movie which was pretty cool. One note - I'm not sure if I missed a prompt or this is usual, but my TV didn't automatically switch its audio output to the sound bar, but that was a super simple change and, in a way, I'm kind of glad I got one last chance to hear the dull sound of the TV speakers because once I activated this bad boy it really pumped out the sound. I was very surprised at how well it sounded given its small stature, but I think the sub woofer makes all the difference. I have a 65" TV so the sound bar does look a bit small, and I'm used to seeing much larger sound bars, but any concerns around "size matters" go away immediately when you hear this thing. Sound was crisp, and the Dolby and DTS audio was superb. I'm not an audiophile by any means, but I can appreciate loud booms and clear sound, and that's exactly what this delivers. There's also Bluetooth connectivity, but I didn't set that up since it's going to be a dedicated sound system for the TV. It's cool to know that I could use that if I ever wanted to. I liked how there were so many options to configure with the remote and the sound bar provided visual and audio prompts to inform me of each selection, so it was a breeze to get it set up just right for my taste. Oh, and I could detect no lag whatsoever with the wireless connection to the sub woofer, which was great because I'm extremely sensitive to out-of-phase sound with Bluetooth audio or some poorly encoded streams. One the negative side, the power cord is a bit on the short side, and I had to hang it diagonally to reach my power strip, which isn't the end of the world, but could limit some options or require an extension cord. And as I said earlier it's a bit small compared to larger TVs so it looks kind of dinky, but it sounds better than far larger sound bars I've heard before. Overall, I'd highly recommend this sound bar. It's loaded with features, sounds great, and was really easy to set up. And at this price point, I feel you get incredible value for your dollar. ... show more

  • Excellent Value
Easy to set up. Works great. Sounds good. Use a bit of patience on the initial Bluetooth pairing between the sound bar and subwoofer - it takes a while.

  • Great setup for a computer
I bought this to replace my computer speaker. It is unbelievably good for its price. Very simple too as you only need to plug in the soundbar and sub to 120v and then use Bluetooth from there. The sound with DTS on is amazing, fills the room.
