I purchased a 43” ROKU Select 4K TV for a bedroom. I wall mounted the streaming TV and the setup and Wi-Fi connection worked perfectly. However, the sound was terrible. I tried watching movies, sports, news, game shows and the TV sound was awful. I was going to return the TV but after completing the work for the wall mount installation I decided to search for soundbars. I found this TCL Alto R1 soundbar and bought it. Just like the TV installation the TCL soundbar setup is simple and it connects quickly. The improvement in sound quality was dramatic and I am very pleased with how much it improved the audio output. It does not have deep bass but ROKU has a separate bass speaker (small subwoofer) that can be purchased if you really want to hear deep bass on movie soundtracks or when playing music. This TCL soundbar should work with any ROKU enabled tv from TCL, Hisense or Insignia.

Not literally. I took advantage of the 3/4 off deal and got it for $49.99. I have had many home theater options on this, my main, TV, from an Onkyo Receiver and 7 speakers plus subwoofer, to a Fire Stick and Echo Studio with Echo Sub. They all sounded good, but were complex, requiring multiple remotes, power sources, changing sound settings before viewing and in one instance, not turning off when asked. I especially disliked the wiring. This unit requires one power connection, works completely off of the ROKU remote, pairs easily and sounds really good. The bass is not mind numbing and you don't hear insects buzzing behind your head, but speech is clear and music sounds quite good. Power levels are more than adequate for normal listening. This will not replace a good sound system for music reproduction, but is outstanding for everyday TV and movies. It only works with ROKU TVs and will not pair with other speakers. It will pair with your phone, laptop or other blue tooth-enabled devices.

This soundbar is awesome. I got mine on sale. I was a bit skeptical because of the price-man was I surprised. For the price, there is nothing in its class that beats it. Does it compare to Bose or a top notch brand, no, but it’s good. Clarity is great for announcing. The bass is lacking. It doesn’t have a built in subwoofer so that’s to be expected. If you want the cinema feel, just add the Roku subwoofer. It was extremely easy to pair with my tv. All I had to do was have the Roku tv scan for it. The tv picked it up right away. I was up and running in less than a minute. If you see this on sale, get it!

This bar was very easy to set up in less than five minutes, and it dramatically improves the sound of your Roku TV. I knocked off a star for the audio quality, it's loud, but a bit like you're listening to music in a cave, even though you can adjust bass, treble, and type of sound (movie, music, custom, etc). I'll keep tweaking it, but for the price, I'm VERY happy with this purchase.

Got this a lower than current sale price and I am glad I did. Purchased a 2nd RokuTV in house for bedroom and the TV sound was pathetically bad. I came across this sound bar and took a chance on it knowing TCL isn't a brand for higher end items. I have a complete Sonos system in living room and there is no comparison here, but I am happy to report that TCL sound bar fills the bedroom with robust sound with decent lows and good enough sound fidelity for both TV and music. I am very impressed y this sound bar and would highly recommend and setup is so very simple and quick.

Great sound, it's actually easy to install. Don't give up if it doesn't install first try. You have to reduce your internet to 2.4g to get it to connect then let it go back to normal. It's quick and easy once you figure out the Internet thing. Also, Roku updated once and kicked off the sound bar. Again, just go back, change the Internet, you may have to reset the sound bar too. But literally so easy a little bit of work for the amazing sound.

So...like a few others after an hour of wresting with this soundbar, I almost gave up because it wouldn't connect. After reading another review, from Ace, I decided to try his/her workaround. I have Fios internet, btw. First, I logged into my Fios app and disabled all of my 5 Ghz wifi options and only left the 2.5 Ghz enabled. After doing that, I rebooted both of my tvs (I bought 2 soundbars) via the system option on the home screen for my tvs. Secondly, I reset both soundbars even though I purchased them brand new. Third, I connected both tvs to my Wifi, I connected it to my guest wifi network option since that one operates on 2.5 Ghz since I disabled the 5 Ghz wifi through the app. Lastly, I retried to connect the soundbars to my tvs and within seconds that worked... I looked up as to why the 5 Ghz wifi would be an issue with connection and read that 2.4 GHz signals have more range and penetration than 5 GHz signals. It is common to get only 2.4 WiFi in some rooms due to distance and/or obstructions. Makes sense, since my router is in the basement and my tvs/soundbars are on the second floor. I've never had this issue before, but I guess with this particular soundbar, interference with the 5 Ghz along with distance from the router causes connectivity issues. After I connected, I re-enabled my 5 Ghz through the fios app and the soundbars are still working fine. I did have to reconnect some of my other devices within my house to the wifi but not an issue for me. I got these soundbars when they were 75% off which for that value, I'll take the short headache of connection troubleshooting. And compared to the sound from the actual tvs, the soundbars are a vast improvement. I'd recommend if you want wireless options for your Roku Tv, being as though Roku Tvs don't allow you to bluetooth connect any speakers or soundbars unless they are a Roku product otherwise, you can connect another brand but it would have to be connected using an optical wire.
