It works. I know, that sounds a little odd, but for years I have used a shovel to open up the ground to plant tulips. I used my battery drill and vertically drill the ground. A little tough if the ground has ground cover or dry. Wet the area the day before and it may take several attempts because you have to remove the weeds/ground cover from the blade. Not good if you have rocks. That being said, it makes a great hole for bulbs. I planted a hundred bulbs in about 2 hours. Had no trouble with either size.Used 3" to help set a 4x4 post.Worked great for digging, not great on roots.But I wouldn't expect them to handle roots too well.Generally I've always had to cut roots out when digging so not disappointed at all by this.Good product that will definitely make hole digging and other chores a whole lot easier. ... show more
