  • Love it! Here's hints for newcomers to plug-and-play for pre-flashed dimmer
Number of Items: 1
Fit and finish of the dimmer is great! No complaints. I am new to open source devices. Instructions on the box and online are sparse. If you want to skip Home Assistant, here's the breakdown for the pre-flashed dimmer. Ensure the dimmer is wired up correctly. Enter pairing mode with the bottom push button (sliver of a button just above the bottom of the faceplate). Pairing mode appears as the normal blinking lights on most devices. I used my iphone to connect to the dimmer via wifi. You will see a network labelled tasmota *******. Connect to it. Download the tasmotrol app for iOS. Open Tasmotrol and add device. You should see the dimmer pop up. Configure the controls from there. ... show more

  • Worth it!
Number of Items: 1
THE BAD - While this is a good dimmer, it's not a great dimmer. MJ still uses leading-edge dimmers rather then the far superior trailing-edge dimmers, but outside that, this is a great product. THE GOOD - Comes with Tasmota preflashed, so automatic win. The icing on the cake is the build quality, the matte screw-less non-branded faceplate, the great packaging, and the build quality [listed twice for a reason]. Many products use standards mouse button-like switches that have a very light, high-pitched quiet click as expected. The MJ switches have a nice heavy tactile sound and feel that at least give the impression of higher quality. I MUCH prefer this!!! With the LED lights I use, they do not activate unless the dimmer is above about 45%. This can be corrected in the Tasmota dimmer range settings. They can, however be dimmed down to about 2% if you start with them on first. This is the drawback to using leading edge dimmers and just can't be resolved. So, either know the limitations and adjust your code accordingly, or adjust the range to avoid it and just not dim as low. MJ, keep up the good work releasing preflashed Tasmota and consider trailing-edge in the future. Might cost a bit more, but a quality device is worth it. ... show more

  • Easy Install. Does the trick.
Number of Items: 1
Just what I needed. Last one had the face plate come off the main switch - there is no way to reattach so I had to purchase a whole new set, as the main switch isn’t sold separately. Easy to install. Hope this one lasts longer than 5 years.

  • Works Well with Ceiling LED
Number of Items: 1
I installed this in my office/workshop where I recently installed a large overhead LED light that at full brightness was just too much for working at my computer, but OK for doing electronics hobby stuff. This dimmer worked perfectly in that it tracks the brightness to match my light. In other words, 50% is right about what you would want 50% to be etc. Only slight complaint is that the unit is large and barely fits in a standard wall box. If you have multiple connections in your box it will be tight. The screwless cover plate seems pretty much useless so I just used one I had which fits fine. The light automatically integrated with Home Assistant as an entity and adding it to my dashboards was painless. Great value and performance so far, I hope it works reliably over time. ... show more

  • Great Tasmota integration, and great for ESPHome.
Number of Items: 1
Really glad to see Martin Jerry supporting open firmwares. They have good quality switches, and the setup process and usage is so much better with Tasmota. ESPHome was easy enough to flash, and works great. The only hiccup is that you have to be sure to flash Tasmota minimal before flashing your ESPHome firmware. After flashing, you might need to power cycle the switch to get dimming to work properly. Hardware wise, the buttons have good tactile feedback and aren’t mushy. The LEDs are a good brightness for most places, and are really nice for finding the switch in the dark. By default, the ESPHome firmware from the esphome-devices website has the red LED on when the switch is off, which works well. ... show more

  • Preflashed with TASMOTA, correct template and flash parameters
Number of Items: 4
Everything you want in an open source-compatible dimmer. The preflashed TASMOTA came configured with the correct template and the correct memory layout. Upgrading to the current version of TASMOTA over the air worked perfectly. Finally an open-source-friendly dimmer that doesn't require opening it up. The three buttons, front panel LEDs, PWM dimmer, and output relay are all exposed directly to the ESP, so you are free to customize everything to your own desires. ... show more

  • Thank you for adding a tasmota version
Number of Items: 1
Never used MJ switches but I have 50 or so other of mixed brands I have flashed with Tasmota. Right out of box I powered it up connect to is WiFi access put in my WiFi info and then added to my MQTT broker. Had it installed and added to home assistant and automations set up in 30 minutes. My only complaint is the physical buttons are slow to go to bright but we hardly ever use physical buttons. The cover plate was hard to get on because my box was a little past the drywall and switch was not flush. I just used a standard decora switch plate instead of supplied one. Keep up the tasmota devices now waiting for you to add the fan switch. ... show more
