This is a basic blue tarp like anything else you will find out there. It is fairly thin as most Blue colored tarps are. Green, brown and silver are heavier and more durable. I can’t remember which color represents how many mils thick the tarp, I just remember blue is the thinist. It will work for light duty, covering items to protect from rain or other light jobs.

Comparing this blue tarp to IKEA tote bags, I can tell the tarp material is just a tiny bit thinner than the IKEA tote. The thinner material of this tarp makes it less "crunchy" than IKEA blue totes. I can only tell this because I have it side by side here in front of me. This is just from feel with my hands. I don't have a way to accurately measure material thickness in mils. The difference is noticeable. But VERY similar in quality and thickness. It's pretty tough material for landscape cleanup of shrub trimmings and waterproof to loosely cover firewood stacks. And more than thick enough to use as floor coverings while painting. Or ground cover when you're spray painting outside. Blue tarps have hundreds of uses. Always get a bigger size than you think you need. Hah.

This is a good basic tarp at 5 mil thickness, probably in the medium range (not the thickest, but not the thinnest). I live in an old house, that gets a lot of rough weather in the winter time, and I like to have a few tarps on hand, just in case. This is a good size to be able to cover up something quickly, not too big and unwieldy. I checked all the grommets and they are fastened well and snuggly, the rest of the tarp seems tough enough to withstand at least one year, hopefully more, depending on your use.

My purpose for this is more for a few times a year for laying odd items on the ground for yard sales rather than leaving outdoors for an extended period of time, so this should work great for occasional use as needed. However, for long-term protection outdoors (such as covering firewood, etc.)- this might not be the most durable or long-lasting option. This blue "10x12 ft 100% Waterproof Uv Resistant Tarp" is a good staple to have on hand for other uses as well, such as to put in one's backpack if hiking, along with some other shelter gear for waiting out rain or just as a ground cover. The grommets are plentiful and appear to be placed in well, but as the plastic of the tarp is thin, so are the grommets, so I'd recommend one consider the use and needed durability for the task beforehand. Again, for using as a temporary mat to place items on the ground for a day or two at a time, this is ideal for me, but for all-season exposure, I'm not sure it would be great for that. I'm glad for this as it's just right for my use. Thanks for reading.

Good tarp, reminds me of the kind my grandparents used on their farm (same texture, material, and color). We get a lot of rain here so I'm using this tarp to cover up firewood that sits outside. I also bring this with me camping to place beneath my tent and give it that extra layer of protection from the sharp rocks and sticks that can puncture the tent. Grommets are solid.
