Top Amazon Reviews

  • Great power, good sound, good for mids and highs UPDATE in the review
This is information I wish I could have read about this amp when I was shopping because I felt like I was possibly taking a chance even though big d wiz did an amp dyno on YouTube on this amp (440x4 same thing different sticker I truly believe) so I’m doing a pretty detailed review and hope it helps someone.... This amp is small enough to fit in the palm of my hand like a wide cell phone however it does every bit of the power it claims.(see the amp dyno on YouTube taramps 440x4) same amp. I have it running a 3 way front stage setup in my car but the 3” midrange and tweeter are passively crossed while the 6.5 plays full range. I’ve never heard bass from 6.5s like this of course my doors are completely sealed so that helps. I have heard that some of the taramps do not sound so great on subwoofers because they cannot hit low enough frequencies ( I have not personally experienced this but I will soon as I order my taramps bass amp , yes I’m willing to try it) however for mid bass it will pound you in the chest set up correctly with just a decent pair of 6.5 mid woofers and 2 channels at 4 ohms not bridged while the other 2 channels make my 3” mid and 1” tweeter scream or just sound absolutely amazing based on volume level....I can’t stand the loudness way before it distorts and I’m a car audio nut job to put that into perspective. I’ve had huge systems that cost a ton of money in my car, I have experience. Yes I’m mecp certified also. I take this seriously. Tested this 3 way system before ordering this amp on a home stereo that put out 400x4 trying to figure out what to expect from the power of it were true power from this amp and it is even louder than off a 100x4 home amp using this tiny tar amps Very pleased, oh and the sound quality is just fine which is another worry I had, don’t worry it sounds great if your not turning up the volume past insane levels with the eq all messed up. Even at insane volume levels you can adjust your eq on the front stage and make it sound great. 5 star product for now, if it breaks I’ll be back to update however I listened to it while working on my car for over 5 hours straight loud as I could handle it and it didn’t have any problems that I noticed! Buy it! I have no regrets whatsoever so far. update: this amplifier turned out to have a very high noise floor for my tastes although it does produce rated power. This meant my speakers would hiss mostly, but also includes random electrical noises. Its not a ground loop, I even went as far as grounding my head unit at the same location as the amplifier, its not my rcas I went as far as wrapping them in HVAC foil tape to prevent any EMI (later I realized this was a bad idea read on) , its not the gain turned up too high the gains low or high do not make a difference. I firmly believe it is this amplifier. Im no beginner with electronics although certainly not a master. If you care about background hiss look elsewhere, if your just looking for something to make your music loud AF go ahead and buy it. I mean with the music turned up you don't notice the hiss for obvious reasons, yes it does go up with volume but not by much its pretty much just a loud hiss the entire way. Possibly better filtering caps could fix this I don't know im not that far into my mobile electronics career but I am far enough to know this isn't sound quality . Not complaining, I knew for 69 bucks there would be some issue, just giving a detailed honest review of the product. Amazon as always was stellar with the shipping speed and box condition. Final testing update: I took my head unit and rca cables out of the equation by building a 3.5mm to rca signal conversion piece, and the noise is barely noticeable at full volume on my phone and with the amp gain turned all the way up to where I would not dream of leaving it (HUGE improvement). My problem wasn't the music playback it was a very loud hiss noise when a track was paused etc. so..... having said that, and the fact that I have checked the amp out to see what type of input this thing needs ( balanced or unbalanced) I give it 5 stars again. The problem could be in my kenwood double din head unit or in my rca cables. a mismatch of the head unit to the amp which I may upgrade the head unit because I am not so sure about it anymore however it is more likely I am going to throw my rca cables away and build some from scratch. The difference is huge, a differential input needs twisted pair rca cables while a single ended input on an amplifier benefits the most from cables made in a shielded coaxial type rca cable. in this case, the amplifier needs a single ended or unbalanced set of rca cables (shielded only 2 conductor 1 ground 1 signal ) for the best sound quality. NOT TWISTED PAIR. If you get noise through this amp check all this out. apologies to TARAMPS! This amplifier really and truly is a great deal for the price, its not audiophile quality of course but it sounds damn good for what it is and the price. THE END ... show more

  • Best 400 watt amp on amazon under $100
This is a small 4 channel D class amp that puts out 63W RMS per speaker at 4 Ohms per speaker. It is much louder than my head unit alone and it's much louder than the SSL 400 watt amp that I replaced. I have Rockford Fosgate Prime 3 way 6 x 9s in the back and 3 way 6.5's in the front of my 2003 Honda Accord. I disconnected the OEM in dash tweeters. The speakers are perfectly matched at 65 watts RMS. I barely have to turn the gain knob at all to get very loud sound and no distortion until I'm at like 30 (head goes up to 35). In fact I have reduced the speaker gain through the head so it wouold be less loud. I am also running a separate subwoofer and have the HPS filter set at 100 in the back and 70 in the front. Perfect complement to my sub which is a rockville setup with one 10" and a 1000w amp. . I gave it 4 stars because the wiring is a little strange as I have it hooked up in their "2 ohm" configuration even though my speakers are 4 ohm. Also It has gone from extremely loud (volume set at 5 was already too loud) to much quieter for no reason once (I could take it up to 18 before it was too loud)). I never figured out what caused that. I messed with the gain a few times since and it seems stable now. For $80 this is a beast of an amp. If the wiring or the one time volume thing doesn't bother you then consider this a 5 star review. ... show more
