  • If you have have 2 subs and want to upgrade to 4 later
If you have have 2 subs and want to upgrade to 4 later, this is your amp. I started this adventure with 2 15 skar ddx dual 4 ohm, knowing eventually I wanted to add 2 more. after my big 3 upgrade I ordered this amp, and it beat the hell out of those 2 subs, I finished my box for the 4 subs and 5 months later added 2 more ddx-15's. now the first 2 I was running at 1 ohm getting 3000watts, into the pair, and this is where the amp changes the game and the way you have to look at this amp is different from any other so I've had experience with. I added the other 2 subs and connected the 8 4ohm voice could in parallel effectively showing the amp 0.5 ohm and everything worked!! To my surprise, yes it's rated at half ohm.. but I never really believed it would do it. But it did, still not comfortable running the amp at 0.5 ohm (it just felt wrong) after 4 months of just being in aww of the power and stability of a 1/2 ohm and that it still only put it 3000 watts (I did notice that my subs no longer looked like they were under stress fever tube I turned up the volume since their no longer getting 750 watts per voice coil, their rated max. It was clear that there who at 1 ohm and 1/2 ohm was doing the same power output) with the idea that no matter what ohm load I gave the amp it would produce the same power, I paired the subs in parallel and then linked the two pairs in series showing the amp a 2ohm load, and to my surprise judging by excursion and volume it still pushed the subs at the same wattage. If your looking for 3000 watts If your already running 2 dvc 4ohn subs and want to add 2 more If you want a amp to grow with turn this one down half way so your subs can only handle 1500 watts at 1 ohm and want to see what those subs would sound like doubled you could turn this one up and add two more subs, hell you could add 8 more if you wanted, just keep pairing them up in parallel and then link them in series, or pair up your pairs and link the paired, pairs in series.. at 1/2; stable there isn't much you can't do with this amp.. your only limit is 3000 watts, that's all you get. It doesn't go up or down with your resistance.. except at 4 ohm there is where you only get 1750 watts. One bit of warning, this amp is efficient but power hungry, -upgrade your vehicle electrical system! -upgrade your battery, and add a second one in parallel..(you need 2 in parallel to handle the discharge rate, not for the storage exactly, one 100 amp lithium discharging at a 1c rate can only discharge 100 amps, so you need two 100 amp batteries rated at 1c working in parallel to feed this amp. It's a 200 amp fuse because that's the most it will pull, so make sure it has the power when it wants it - I first ran 1/0 awg ofc wire into it, and it would clip on occasion, I had to get 2 1/0awg gold distribution blocks and run a second 1/0;awg ofc wire to the distribution block and then feed the two 1/0 awg into one 1/0 awg wire into the amp with a 5 farad capacitor in line with it and did the same with the ground giving it less than 8 inches of ground wire, fed through the floor boards and directly connected to the frame at 2 seperate spots.. it no longer clips after that.. - if you want this amp to perform the way the specs sheet says it will, you have to give it what it needs to do so. Don't cheap out on the support gear and think this amp is junk cuz it clips.. no amp can put out 3000 watts if you bottleneck the power supplies to it. Get the 40ft of 1/0 awg ofc wire for 80 bucks ground it to the frame, do the big 3 upgrade, get the high output alternator and add a smaller pulley to it, the only place you can cheap out(but not really) is get the 100 amp lifepo4 battery but get the battery that can discharge 200 amp/hour and you should be fine, but if your battery only discharge at 100amp per hour, you better get 2, no matter what battery you have, this who needs a 200amp discharge rate. If you get a 50 amp battery it still needs to discharge 200 amp/hour.. j Just because this amp costs $300 don't think your going to walk away only paying that, ADDITIONAL FEES YOU WILL PAY FOR ANY AMP OF THIS SIZE: -your 1/0 awg ofc wire will cost you $100, -The big 3 will cost you 100 In wire and connectors -The alternator will cost you 200- 600 depending on how big you go, -the 100amp lifepo4 (I got the life 100amp from Amazon) will cost you 400ish - you will spend 1 hour installing the amp it your upgrading it from an old set up *1-3 hour doing the big 3 upgrade. *1-2 hours doing the alternator install * 1/2 -1 your l hour installing your battery The time and money involved is not small, as a component, $300 is cheap for the amp. But to install it at it's capacity you are looking at half a day of work and $800 in support components. I recommend you do all this before you buy the amp. One step at a time. Only draw back is once you do all that, your going to want to upgrade to the 5k because crack may be addictive but 30hz at 130db will turn you out needing more. And the feeling of 130db at 30hz stops being a sound and becomes a solid force pushing at your. I funny know when sounds becomes a material, physical piece of matter but this amp does it. Don't make this purchase blindly, you are buying one of the most advanced amplifiers every made, and I don't say that lightly. Give it the respect it deserves and you will be more than amazed at the sheer force and unbridled power this amp puts out, with 2 ddx-15s anyone sitting in your back seat make sure they have a bucket cuz 20 hz causes nausea, and with 4 don't put people in your back seat, unless you want to get information out of them and water boarding is out of the question. And if you say this amp clips or sux, read this again and follow the guidelines I started above.. And with that I'm selling my 3k because I want the 5k now.. do they make an 8k? ... show more

  • Great value
Item came in box with tamper seal broken but seems to function properly, so far. Knobs are placed so close together it is difficult to adjust settings without screwdriver. Plenty power for my JLw7 13.5" sub.

  • Great amplifier
Will 100% need a really good battery or two for this amp. Use OFC wire. This thing pounds. I got one sundown X10 Rev1 on this amp in a 28hz tuned box and man this thing vibrates the paintings on the walls in my house with my car in the driveway.

  • Awesome! Rated power in a range of impedances
Cheapest option for 1/2 ohm. I didn't know that the max power can be outputted over a range of impedances. How many times have you bought more or less speakers so you ohms will be right? Hooked up to ome 8's at 1/2 ohm and barely have the gain up. Does well on my mostly stock electrical system. Haven't even finished the big 3 yet. Blown away by the output and size of this thing. ... show more

  • Good power output for the price
The amp works, I'm not blown away by it though, I can't verify actual output yet I have it powering a Skar vxf-15 and it powers it pretty good, I was running a fosgate prime 500 prior and it was took even bit of it to power my sub, the taramps is tuned down slightly from max but I don't notice a major improvement with the higher wattage. I'm going to update after I run some tests so this is my initial experience. The quality isn't the best the casing is very flexible it feels cheap in hand, many loose dials and connection points and you can't connect a bass control, the sound quality is not as clean as my prior amp, I don't want to say it's a disappointment but I was hoping for more after hearing other reviews, I haven't noticed any high heat from the amp which is impresive, and i like the clip sensor thats provided. I should also add I am running a high output alternator with my stock lead acid battery plus 2 AGM optima batteries, I've installed the big 3 all in 1/0 copper welding wire also power and ground to the amp with 1/0 copper welding wire and 8 gauge ofc speaker wire. I will update after some testing ... show more
