  • Only mechanics should order this, YOU are the dealer
This is amazingly good. It is a generic 150cc GY6 scooter with parts cheap and readily available. Right out of the crate, mine needed its valve lash corrected, so this is NOT for newbs, but its easily done for an experienced person. About 6 screws and the entire seat / shroud comes right off exposing the engine. Update: I've put over 1000km on it so far with no issues. Its due for another oil change is all :D ... show more

  • Almost Died
I love the way the bike feels the way it rides the way it looks the storage that it has. However since I crashed it within the first 2 miles after getting it from the shop I have to give it 4 out of 5 stars especially since the police are holding it for investigation but never even asked me if I wanted it towed. The only investigation they are supposedly claiming is that I may have been drunk or on meth which I was tested at the University of Iowa and there's nothing in my system besides what I'm prescribed to. Recovery is awesome if you follow the right steps and go in the right direction. ... show more

  • Piece of crap Lights kept going out
Piece of crap Lights kept going out, muffler broke off while riding, and just overall a lot of problems. Would not recommend this for anyone. All of this within 60 days of purchasing it. And the metal "cage they send it in is a joke; ours was scratched all on one side when we uncrated it which we were willing to live with if it ran good. Wish we had NEVER bought it. ... show more

  • Great Seller and Excellent Scooter !!
Seller Smart Deals Now (SDN) is fantastic to deal with! Unless you need warranty work. See 8/17 update - Warranty is useless.. I’m writing this lengthy review because of all the other great Amazon reviewers out there that helped me out by reviewing, not just this scooter, but the scores of other merchandise I purchased over the years. I researched this purchase, and watched LOTS of scooter reviews and repair videos on YouTube, heard all the bad and good experiences, and decided to buy via Amazon for that little extra Buyer protection. So – this is an unbiased review and no BS. I ordered this TaoTao Powermax-150 Scooter in Orange late Monday evening. Tuesday afternoon, I received a phone call from SDN to verify my shipping address and color scooter I wanted. I received tracking number Wednesday, Thursday the Trucking Company called to schedule the delivery and Friday evening I received my scooter. They are a week early getting it to me - impressive! While I was waiting for the delivery, I watched scooter assembly videos on YouTube. There are many scooter assembly videos out there that were helpful in preparing me for the assembly process, so there were no surprises. Assembly was easier than I expected. But the assembly DVD that came with the scooter was only ok. Total assembly time was about 3 1/4 hours, but that included 2 beer breaks, watching the included DVD, and looking for my hand tools- plus, I was in no hurry. I unboxed, there was no damage from shipping and everything looked great. So I clipped the shipping wires, removed the few loose parts and set on table, disassembled the metal shipping frame and put the scooter on the center kickstand to put on the front tire. It took me some time to get the front tire on because of the speedometer gear mechanism- its kind of poorly designed, but I got it together and torqued the nut down (I used Loctite on threads). No big deal, but it slowed me down, and is what required me to consume the 2nd beer. Handlebars went on next, tightened the handlebar nut (with Loctite), and added the plastic headlight assembly, front fender and upper fender piece. It took a few persuasive whacks with the palm of my hand to get the plastic tabs to seat, but it all went together nicely. The trunk assembly went next, license plate fender extension, mirrors and then put in the battery. Battery did not require filling. I then checked the whole machine for loose bolts, hoses, screws and electrical connectors and only found about 4 that needed a little snugging up. I checked the oil and made sure all the lights and blinkers worked – they did. I then filled it with gas and hit the starter. It fired up after a few cranks. The engine is smoothe and quiet. The idle was a little low and it would stall, so I adjusted the idle up a little and it was perfect after that. I took a ride up and down my street to make sure the brakes worked and nothing was going to fall off, - all was good. So, I put on my sunglasses and went buzzing around the neighborhood! I’m 6’3” and 230 # and this scooter moves me no problem. It’s quick and comfortable – It fits me well. I put about 5 miles on the scooter and then put all my tools away and sent the seller a request for the title documentation so I can get a tag. I’ll add to the review to see the timeline for the documentation. But I sent them a photo of the VIN plate and typed it all as well. It was not the perfect transaction, but it had nothing to do with the Seller SDN. My only hiccup was with the Trucking Co on final delivery, the driver called me before he was coming over, but my cell went directly to VM, I called him back but no answer. So he took the scooter back to the terminal. The Carrier let me get it from the terminal that evening, but it took me a few of heated words to the CS people. However – the Trucking CS people were great – they really help me so I could pick it up and not wait until the next week for the rescheduled delivery, and the folks at the Terminal were great as well, so I got the scooter Friday evening. Overall I am VERY HAPPY with this scooter. It’s a pretty well-built machine – much better than I was expecting! I really like the orange color, and obviously, the plastic is just plastic, but I didn’t pay a ton of cash for it either. The scooter seems to be a pretty decent machine, and it’s got that GY6 engine which is easy and cheap to fix and find parts for. If you are considering buying this from Smart Deals Now – go for it – so far, they are a Great Seller. Update: Recieved title documents 6 business days after I sent them the request. To get a faster turn, call to verify they received the request. I called on day 3, but they didn't see my email as it went through Amazon site. As soon as I spoke to seller, they immediately sent me the documents. Great Service! 8/17 Repair needed: The muffler is rattling very loudly from inside and the seat is ripping underneath. 102 miles. Called as it is under warranty and they want me to bring it in and pay a $50 diagnosis Fee. I'm 950 miles away. When they found out I'm not local, they gave me a phone number to call and no answer, to voicemail, left message. 10-01-17 After repeated calls to the "factory warehouse" I got no answer, left voice mails, no returned calls and disconnected. Do not expect any service on this after you purchase it. The seller won't help you, except to give you the phone number for factory warranty. I repaired the muffler on the scooter myself. Other than that, the scooter runs well and I keep up with the oil changes. ALWAYS look for loose bolts. YouTube videos warn of parts falling off- and its true. During initial assemble, I locktited a lot of the bolts, nuts and screws where recommended. I still had a few parts fall off while I was riding- nothing serious as I was moving slowly and saw them roll, but has I not found the bolts, it would have been a pain to replace them. It's a shame, as the initial seller experience was great, however, when I needed help, none was found. ... show more
