    • A great value scooter and responsive customer service.
The scooter did not take long to assemble and was well packed for shipping. The unit arrived quickly because Smart Deals Now works with several distribution centers/warehouses, including one not far from me. The scooter did need a bit of adjustment to get it running well (don't expect the greatest quality control buying such a cheap scooter), but it was easy to do and there are many youtube videos explaining all sorts of upgrades and adjustment for this scooter. Overall I would recommend this scooter, but if you have no mechanical abilities it may become a headache for you. I have had the scooter for one week and am still waiting for my documents to register it which is disappointing but I am understanding, if they arrive within a reasonable time-frame then I will be able to say that I am completely satisfied with the service provided by Smart Deals Now. ... show more

    • Poorly designed and built scooter
This Tao Tao ATM 50 is by far the worst purchase of my life. Had I purchased it locally vs online I would have taken it back for return quickly. Although I’m not a mechanic I could immediately tell the scooter was poorly designed and built as cheaply as possible. I opened the crate and started reading through the “owner’s manual/assembly instructions.” These instructions are several years old and written by someone who speaks English minimally. Much of the information is not applicable to the ATM A1- 50 model as it was written for another model. It is like using the instruction manual for a Ford when you bought a Buick. Thank goodness I was able to find some relevant information on YouTube which helped me fumble through. Otherwise I would have never been able to assemble the scooter. Some of the required bolts, nuts, washers, etc. were missing from the hardware bag and some just not the correct size or length to fit where intended. But, lots of extra hardware which I never found the purpose for was included. The floormat meant to go where you place your feet as you drive is completely the wrong size. I tried to adjust and alter what was included and secure it down. None of my ideas worked so I decided to leave the floormat off all together. Being a Chinese product the mounting bracket for the license place is not designed to fit small scooter license plates in the United States. I needed to remove the bracket and drill my own holes in order to attach the license plate. The front display panel which includes the fuel meter, speedometer and odometer has never worked. Initially I thought I might have assembled something incorrectly to cause this. I tried multiple different ways to reassemble the wheel mechanism which feeds information to the panel. Eventually I took the scooter to a shop for assistance and they determined the problem was not from my assembly, but likely the panel itself. Initially, the motor would start using the ignition button although it squealed as if there was metal scratching against metal. After a few weeks the ignition button stopped working and I had to use the kick start. The fuel tank always leaked gas onto the ground. At first, I thought I was overfilling the tank to cause the leak from overflow. Eventually I had to place a drip pan because I knew the entire tank would eventually drain out while sitting in the garage. This required me to buy a gas can and keep adding fuel in increments just prior to using the scooter. However, on three different occasions I was stranded out of gas because the fuel drained empty while I was in the store, etc. Each time I had to push the scooter to a gas station. The throttle never worked correctly. Turning the throttle should increase your speed but I generally needed to open the throttle completely because the scooter wouldn’t respond otherwise. At first, I thought I had filled with some bad fuel but that wasn’t the case. I’m not sure if the fuel pump wasn’t working or the carburetor, or both. Either way the motor seemed to not be getting the fuel it needed to accelerate and keep moving. Eventually, this caused the motor to die each time I stopped and basically made the scooter unusable. The brake handles come preassembled, but both were too loose to be safe and I had to research how to adjust and tighten them before I could safely use the scooter. Dealing with an out of state seller made the situation difficult for both me and them. The seller, MotoPro, has been very responsive to my emails for help. When the scooter became unusable the seller made special arrangements for me to return the scooter to a local warehouse where it can be repaired or replaced. Update: this Tao-Tao scooter has continued to be a legendary waste of money and time. As of today, January 2, 2021 I’ve owned the scooter for 6 months. WIt has been in the shop for at least half that time. It is currently in the shop and has been for 7 weeks. It has been decided by the seller that I should have the full purchase price refunded to me. After all the money I have spent 6 months with this scooter but only3 months and 300 miles spent on the scooter. Once I have secured the funds from Amazon I will start over and purchase a more reliable scooter. I continue to warn you about the poor quality and workmanship of Chinese built scooters. No response at all when I called to ask for replacement. It was a difficult complaint process. every company blamed the other. no resolution. Easy to assemble, Started up right away. All lights worked. Battery easy to fill with electrolyte. Color I opted for was green and looks pretty.
