These are pretty cool setups I was purchasing this one to replace another one come to find out it wasn't the heater that was bad it was a restriction in my waterline to the heater now that I fixed that it works very well it keeps pretty good track of a consistent temperature it does fluctuate a little bit probably 3 or four degrees of variation you can feel it but it's not extreme it works off of a couple of D cell batteries so there's no wiring and the settings are fairly easy to set comes with pretty much zero instructions but it is very easy and labeled well for all I would say this is a pretty damn cool setup mine is installed on my 2010 camper and works very well but my camper also is stationary I'm not sure exactly how you would go about putting it into a regular camper for travel because of the way that the chimney works and the fact that it needs to be mounted vertical but overall it's awesome we have two teenage girls that have to take 45 minute hot showers every morning so it works very well for that also thought since I have an extra one of these of setting it up to fill my hot tub with hot water because at home I have a standard hot water heater and it runs out after 50 gallons and I need 300 plus I haven't set it up to do that yet but I think that's going to be what I'm doing with the old one that didn't have anything wrong with it that I replaced the old one was three years old and worked well just the water flow would cause it to turn off and on and off and on because I had inadequate flow ... show more

    • Good while it worked

I enjoyed the water heater while it was functioning. It took a while to dial in the controls(which were labeled backwards), but once everything was set, it ran well and consistently. I ran the unit conservatively and it was surprisingly efficient. During the last week that the unit was functioning it began to turn on and off intermittently during use. Finally the unit ceased to turn on at all. I replaced the batteries, tested the propane tank separate from the unit(functioned as normal), and did basic troubleshooting of the unit itself with no success. The unit was supplied with 60psi, potable city/county tap water. I live in Hawaii and the unit never went through any weather extremes. I'm typically happy to repair all my own things without pestering the manufacturer but under these circumstances I didn't want to void a potential warranty because the unit didn't look easily serviceable. I suspect the unit has a water flow sensor that failed. I've had it for less than a year and only installed it about 6 months ago. In that time I used about 30 pounds of propane before the unit failed. I can't seem to find anyway to contact the seller/manufacturer about warranty. If the seller contacts me to help resolve the failed unit I will adjust my review accordingly. As it stands I will only rate it 1-star as the unit should have lasted for more than 6 months, and 30 pounds of propane, use. ... show more

    • Great propane water heater

I used this for a few years to speed heat my inflatable hot tub. It takes a 6 person hot tub(280 gallons) from 62 degrees to 103 degrees in about 1.5 hours. Propane is cheaper than electricity in my area and it takes $2-3 in propane to heat my hot tub 40 degrees. Then I maintain heat with electric water heater. After 3 years out in the exposed weather the paint is starting to peel. The tiny filter in the water line input needs to be cleaned or checked often as a clogged filter reduces pressure at the flow detector(which needs 5 psi to activate the burner) and prevents the unit from firing. This 18L propane heater is great though. If using as a camp shower just be careful of how hot it can get with low flow and high heat settings. ... show more

    • Best idea for an outdoor/ pool shower

Update 06/26/2025: I dropped this review down to a four star. 24 hours after I had installed it I had a leak from the shower hose. It was a usual pain to contact Amazon, going through the”bot” help and then trying to avoid a full return just replacement hose part. I finally was given a contact to the retailer who requested pictures. I was unable to send even a small video to clearly show the leaking area. They did send me a replacement part which was plastic. And tightening was not successful in stopping the lead completely, though it had largely improved (yes hand tightening and with teflon tape). However, when I continue to tighten the faucet hose onto the water heater, it broke. I have decided not to contact them again as likely it will be the same low quality replacement. Instead, I have bought an all steel faucet hose that would be 7 foot long instead of the short 4 foot and we’ll see how that goes. The one star drop is not for the customer service, but because the faucet hose was flimsy. Please make sure that you carefully hand tighten though, even that did not prevent the plastic nut from breaking. I am still pleased with the heat generated, and the unit itself appears to be good. it is being used regularly to rinse off before and after the pool and as this is summer in Florida it is on the very lowest Saturn and still produce decent warm water. Was still recommend at set plan to swap out for a longer a more durable faucet hose. ====== Too early to tell about longevity. I received this and was able to set it up outside next to my pool quickly. Only downside is that you have to get a 1/2” G Thread (BSP) Female to 3/4” GHT Male Connector adapter so as to use it on your garden hose. Also the shower head holder packaging was a little difficult to remove and did not come with mounting screws. It blows all the solar water heater options out of the water. We have had two popular types and after a couple gallons of use maybe one or two people would have warmish water and the rest suffer. This is on demand- as soon as the water starts to flow, the heat kicks in. The temperature adjustment is easy. The LED read out is great. The flow rate is excellent just like an indoor shower. I used quick connect fittings to my outside faucet and hung it up on part of my trellising for a raised garden next to my pool. I do not plan this as a permanent amount as I’m not sure how waterproof it is especially in Florida rainy weather and it would hardly be used in the winter. I may build a stand with a waterproof box depending on how often we use the pool this summer as I do not wish to mount it on my house walls. For camping and portability, I will probably attache a handle- it is not heavy or overly bulky, but it’s inconvenient to move with other equipment. After I disconnect the hose, it would be nice to not have to also disconnect the gas, but hold it via a handle in one hand and the gas tank in another. It has impressed my spouse with the ease of use and I’ll update this review with some videos if it continues to function well. ... show more
