I love fitness and I love gadgets. I was looking forward to mixing up my workouts with a little skipping-based cardio. The rope itself is nicely designed and has smooth bearings and an easy frictionless rotation but for 80 bucks you expect to get some of that cool gadgetry that they describe. All I got was disappointment. First off, the app advertised on the product packaging is deprecated and the "new" app - once you find it - hasn't been updated in quite some time. Although the product claims to be link-able to Samsung Health when you step through that process it proudly proclaims "Coming soon!". Oops. Getting the rope set up and paired with your phone is easy enough. I have a Samsung Galaxy S20. So it's a pretty new phone compatible with everything and includes the greatest and newest bluetooth technology. The initial bluetooth link-up works well enough but then when I stepped more than 6 inches away from the phone - as one might in order to do some skipping, say - the bluetooth connection was lost. I stepped back and placed the rope handle that has the electronics within 6 inches of the phone and the connection came back. The app and the smarts only works when the rope is connected otherwise you get no "credit" for your workout. It's just an expensive "unsmart" rope. "This is rather unworkable" I thought. So I tried my wife's iPhone Xr. Same thing. Connects when close by and any distance causes an immediate disconnect. I contacted TangramFactory help and they suggested resetting the rope and re-pairing which I did but with no change in behavior. I also reset the rope, re-paired and rebooted the phone(s) in various sequences - still no change. I sent the rope back and got a replacement thinking maybe bad hardware. Got the new one. Same thing. So now this one is going back for a refund and I will move on to a competitor's product. Too bad. Save your money and try another smart rope ... show more
