We highly suggest that you use a quality exfoliant like Tan Physics Pre-Tan Exfoliant and a wash cloth. I love love love this product. I am very fair and turn orange with most self tanners. This product went on smoothly and i was able to adjust the depth of color. Worth every last penny!

    • Great product. A few things to keep in mind….

I have been buying this for about 4 years. Overall, I really like it. It DOES have a citric scent when it goes on; which is one of the reasons I kind of like it. But, your skin will smell “weird”, if you don’t shower within a day of using it. I definitely recommend you use the mitt; it WILL streak otherwise. Be careful around dry areas, like ankles, knees, etc. It will make those area much darker if they are dry. However, do NOT use a moisturizer before using this product or it won’t “work”. Wait 24 hours after plucking eyebrows, shaving legs etc. Otherwise the freshly exposed pores will suck up the product and will result in “dark freckles”. It is expensive, but honestly, I have tried them all, and I am VERY fair skinned, and this honestly looks very natural. No tanner is perfect; they all have their pros and cons. The biggest con of this product is the price; but in my opinion, it’s worth it. I wouldn’t have been using it for four years if I didn’t like it a lot over all. The ONLY annoying thing is that I am an art teacher and I have to wash my hands frequently and it washes off my hands pretty quickly and requires additional application (every other day) in order to not have “white patches” on my hands. ... show more

    • Natural look for a ginger and dries quickly!

I’m a Ginger with fair skin and have never found anything that looked natural. I love how I can get instant color and let it dry (which is usually 15 to 20 minutes) while I’m getting ready. I like it so much, I added it to my subscription list and I bought it no less than 16 times. I exfoliate with a sugar scrub and then put gold bond lotion on all over. I put the tanner on after I’ve rubbed the lotion in. I make sure to scrub the palm of my hands, thoroughly with soap and water and a good strong towel dry, or the Tanner sets in and can look pretty gnarly. I only cover the areas that would be exposed if I were sending with a two piece. If the tanner happens to get someplace that, I don’t want it to, I can exfoliate it to fade or eliminate the color. I’ve checked around and tried some others by recommendation of friends and still keep coming back to tan physics… I love this stuff! ... show more

I bought this after doing a crapload of research on the best self tanners that don't smell super gross. I normally only use St.Tropez because it's actually amazing espically for my like basically clear skin tone and I definitely don't hate it enough to tan for real and St.Tropez will give you a for real actual brown no orange, or anything unwanted color wise it's kinda prefect all year around but the smell smells well, like self tanner lol. So anyways this tanning stuff isn't horrible, and I will have to say doesn't really have a bad smell. But it doesn't go on as well as the aforementioned and after like a day or two it starts to turn blotchy which then makes it look super not brown but more of an orangey like hue to it which is less than sun kissed to say the least. I exfoliate and use the mits in circular motion all the steps so I know it's not human aka user error. So I hope this helps someone else from spending more and or being inconvenienced because of you're like me I'm a Beauty product lunatic and I get excited for the Amazon truck to show up and I know the sadness it can bring for the one little product that was going to lift you up and work and look the way it did in your mind. So yeah idk thx sorry it wasn't a positive one but at least it's honest. Thx ... show more

I was so hesitant to purchase a self tanner because so many turn your skin orange. But, after months of debating, I broke down and purchased this self-tanner. To my surprise, it works!!! I applied the product with the mitt that they offered, you are better off using the mitt because your hands look funny with the tanner underneath. Anyway, I let it dry on my body first, so I would not stain anything. After the product was dry, I felt comfortable allowing my body to touch any fabrics. In a few hours, I was actually getting a really nice color to my skin. I did this for a few days in a row, and with every application I liked it more and more. Now, I am on my second bottle. It is not sticky. It is not orange. It does darken my age spots--but, that is not their fault-I just bought some dark spot remover, and that worked. I look better than ever!!!! Obviously I love it since I bought a second one!!! Oh, and talked my best friend into buying it too! She loves hers too! Her complexion is more olive skin-dark, my complexion is light, being a blonde. So, same bottle, we both got great results!!! ... show more
