The 35mm F/2.8 Di III OSD M1:2 (Model F053) is a wide-angle, fixed focal lens suitable for just about every shooting situation. The 35mm focal length is wide angle-of-view, but natural perspective and field-of-view for instinctive image capture. The lens is great for many different types of photography, including portraits with context, food photography, and nature. Very light in weight and compact, it hardly adds anything to the heft to your bag, so you can carry it comfortably every day. Focusing as close as 0.15m (5.9 in), you can fill the frame with even small subjects. In addition to the F/2.8 aperture, the Model F053 is constructed using special glass materials including LD (Low Dispersion) and GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements effectively arranged to quash aberrations. The Model F053 provides outstanding optical performance across the entire frame, and delivers a sharp image, right down to the texture of the subject. Amazing sharpness and smooth bokeh at all apertures. Autofocus as if it was an older generation lens, noisey, slower, but good enough to capture my kids running at the camera and macro of flowers getting blown around by the wind. Looses track and racks focus too often. Still giving it 5 stars for the best image quality of any f2.8 35mm lens on e mount while having decent AF and incredibly cheap price.     • Inexpensive Lens with Priceless Image Quality
Wow. Talk about exceeding expectations. Took a chance on a “plastic fantastic” lens on sale, as I wanted a lightweight 35mm prime. To say the least my expectations were, um, managed. What a pleasant surprise when images from this modest lens absolutely blew me out of the water. Sharp from edge to edge, good color rendering, and almost weightless. Highly recommended.     • A great all around lens at an affordable price
I have been working with this lens for about 8 weeks now on an onging project. The autofocus is subpar and pretty loud and slow but this can be easily mitigated by just manually focusing images. The images this makes are razor sharp and it looks so so good and the lens preforms all around amazing and at this price point it is hard to beat. ... show more

    • Noisy autofocus
Image quality is good, and if you are okay with a noisy autofocus, this may work. I wouldn't recommend it for video, it's too loud and it's not fun to shoot with. Body is mostly plastic, feels okay. For $100 more, the Sigma is far better for me.

    • If you have a Sony a7IV read this
The lens works perfectly for photos. No issues. It did not work for me at all on video mode until I applied firmware v03. After that it does autofocus normally on video mode. You can hear some clicking when it autofocuses so if you are capturing sound via camera mic or a shotgun, it is possible for the low level click sounds to make it into your sound. It would not be an issue with broll or if you are capturing sound via lavalier mics or wireless lav mic setups. I haven’t had a chance to test the sharpness yet but took several test shots as soon as I got it and was impressed with the results. Maybe more to come on that. ... show more

    • A good name in lenses, auto focus, and macro for a good price.
Am just starting out with a A7C. I shot mostly antique furniture for online sale, and needed something that would let me work in my dark and tight studio. I was looking at other 35mm lenses with a lower f stop then my kit lens' f4 which is practically f5 when at 35mm. Though there are many other 35mm with a lower f stops than 2.8 of this Tamron, the macro capabilities and the current price sold me. With macro, this has saved me time swiping lenses when I need to get just one or two pictures of something close up like a scratch or a label. It has worked out really well so far, and at 199.99 may be a sleeper of a deal. For what I am doing, the picture quality has been good, though I have not done much with outdoor photography. With what I saved on this compared to some of the other 35mm lenses from Sony, Sigma, and Tamron it self, I was able to also get a Sony 50mm 1.8 used which I have also been looking at. ... show more
