Travel photographers can easily take beautiful sunrise and sunset shots, distinctive interior/exterior buildings, as well as twilight and nightscape photos. Portrait photographers can shoot wide to telephoto coverage during an event or portrait shoot without switching lenses, all while enjoying the soft background bokeh desired by portrait and wedding professionals. • This lens never leaves my camera now
Nothing really seems to come close to this lens in terms of versatility. I like that it gives me the option to shoot wide with 35mm and still have plenty of zoom to play with. The ability to open up the aperture to f/2 at the wide end is nice in low light situations, but most of the time I keep this at f/2.8. I do recommend using the custom button and setting it to the aps-c function on your camera for a little bit extra reach when you need. It has been nice to have roughly the same reach as a 70-200mm, but without having to switch lenses for wide stuff. The sharpness and autofocus for this lens has been great, and I do use this for indoor arena sports. The tradeoff with this lens is that it's big. The filter thread is 82mm, and even though the versatility will make you want to take this thing everywhere, the size will make you think twice. Also, I recommend doing the software update as I feel like it made a slight improvement in AF tracking on my Sony A9. ... show more

  • It’s heavy but the range is great
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I liked the photos I could take with this, quality was great, speed was great, range was awesome. BUT, it’s massive my wrist were killing me after holding it for a while. This was meant for tripod use mostly, I like to do a lot of hand held. I would buy again if I could, great lens. ... show more

  • Must have lens for events
Why did you pick this product vs others?: For Zooms, I use Tamron; for Primes, I use Sigma. During events, I had a challenge of constantly changing out zoom lens. But now with this 35-150, I no longer have to change out lens during my coverage of weddings and quinceañeras. It stays on my Sony 7R5 all the time. The lens is awesome and the supplier delivered within one day. I am very happy and satisfied! ... show more

  • Big and Heavy but for a reason.
Tamron doesn’t fail to impress with their variety of focal lengths! I really loved their 20-60mm and thought I could upgrade to this. In the end I returned it because I only plan to have one main lens for filming myself. So the long and heavy lens was not my fit.

  • Versatile beast
This lens does not leave my camera body during basketball season. When sitting on the baseline I can go wide enough to get the play right in front of me, and zoom far enough to get a good look at the action on the other side of the court. The zoom lens is a little stiff compared to what I’ve experienced with Canon or Sony, but that doesn’t bother me a ton. It may be “heavy” but that’s subjective. Coming from shooting with DSLR equipment, this Tamron lens is still lighter than the Canon 70-200 f2.8 lens that I previously shot with. I’m very happy with it. ... show more

  • Greatness
Great all around lens that doesn't miss. Just make sure you do the firmware upates when you get and periodically. Best $2k i've ever spent.

  • Great zoom range and quality focus.
Amazing lens. All the reviews are spot on. This lens can be used indoors in an office setting and outdoors at a wedding. The zoom range is very versatile and covers most situations. Its definitely a heavy lens but not unreasonable. The glass produces crisp photos and video.

  • Great lense
I have this lense on my Sony A7C, super sharp and fast, but be aware it is heavy!
