  • This is a Tamron?
All I can say is WOW! I purchased the 35-150, to replace my Tamron 281200 zoom. The 28-200 was nice, but never as sharp as I wanted. I used it as my go to travel lens. I have two Sony bodies, the A7iv and the A7Riii. I have used many zoom lenses over the years, mainly for the convenience of not having to change lenses in the field. I currently use a Sony 200-600, for wildlife, which is an outstanding piece of glass. Now back to the Tamron 35-150. I ordered it knowing it would be a heavier lens and it is quite a bit heavier than the 28-200. I have not taken it on long excursions yet, so don't know how fatiguing it will be to carry around all day, especially if I am also carrying the Sony 200-600. The f2.8 will allow me to capture some shots at dawn and dusk, as well in other low light conditions. The five stars I gave it, well, I believe this lens is the absolute sharpest zoom lens I have ever owned. The build quality is excellent. Auto-focus is fast and accurate. I have put it through many tests and the results are phenomenal! This is the case through the entire range from f2.8 through f22. Tamron really hit one out of the park with this lens. Sony needs to catch up with this lens! ... show more

  • can't seem to hate
this thing was pretty expensive. it's also heavy. i bought it with a credit card so i've really been testing it out trying to hate it. if i hate it. the. i can return and feel better about spending money i don't have. i threw it on my a7riii and it has not come off. sure. sometimes i wanna go closer than 35mm. and yes. i want to go past 150. but the range of this lens is perfect. i threw on my sigma 24-70. it came off instantly and the tamron came back on. it's a fun lens. the custom buttons are rad and idk. it's a dope lens. i have my camera with me at all times. i fact it's in my bed next to me right now. if i'm not shooting. i'm not ok. i just ordered the 150-500 from tamron. the build quality is solid. i fell into this black abyss climbing a roof at night to get shots of a fire. and smashed this thing on the ground. nothing happened. i've spilled drinks on it. i use it. and it feels durable. it is expensive. and its pretty damn heavy. i can't tell you to buy or not. i'll be able to tell you after i use this thing until it's dead. i mean. i just got it. i will test it until it breaks. ... show more

  • Great addition to my lenses
This is a beast with great potential. Make no mistake about it this not a light lens. I bought it mostly close up photos in nature/people and more. It was bought for more inside or lowlight conditions as well. I have been happy with many random products especially the long term warranty of six years. I am not abusive to my gear so its more for manufacturers defect or inability to keep up for those full six Years. In any case this won't spend much time in my camera pack. It will be one of two cameras and lens pairs in my hand at all times or on my paired suspenders. Btw I am using this lens on a Sony a7rii and a Sony a7 and perhaps my a6000 pair later on overall a great well made lens ... show more

  • Switched from Sigma 24-70 Art f2.8 and Tamron 70-180 f2.8
I sold my Sigma 24-70 Art f2.8 and Tamron 70-180 f2.8 and decided to consolidate because I love zooming past 70 for some nice close ups when traveling. Didn’t want to worry about switching lenses and this 35-150 f2-2.8 covers 95% of how I like to shoot. 2 major observations. 1. Heavier and longer than my sigma 24-70 f2.8. It’s noticiable and will take some getting used to but it’s ok. If I’m in the mood to zoom past 70 I don’t have to change the lens and risk missing the moment. 2. Going from f2.8 to f2 is a very noticeable difference for me, especially in low light conditions. Definitely an upgrade even if it is only f2 between 35mm-39mm. If you are just upgrading from kit lenses I highly recommend this 35-150 and don’t make the mistake I made and purchase the 2 separate lenses for the holy trinity. My new trinity is sigma art 14-24 f.8, Tamron 35-150 f2-2.8, and my sigma 150-600 f5-6.3. I only really travel with my dynamic duo (the first two) but it’s nice to have this new setup. I’ll use the tamron most of the time unless I’m doing Astro, wild life, or landscape photography. ... show more

  • Good lens but could be so much better.
We own 2 of these lenses. The focal range 35-150 is awesome. It works great for the vast majority of weddings, is very good for portraits, and decent for sports. Both lenses are VERY soft on the edges, which makes it useless for large group or family photos. (this on both our A1's and A7R5) And you have to be mindful when zooming. When tracking a subject if you zoom in or out it will often lose focus. Sometimes a little and sometimes a lot. So it is track, zoom, reacquire. We have had pretty good success photographing basketball and volleyball as long as you keep in mind the focus zoom issue. The zoom is pretty stiff and will loosen some with time. Dust sealing is also an issue, both lenses have pulled in dust and you can easily see it on the interior elements. (we don't baby or equipment, we are out in the elements all the time) So is it worth it? Well until Sony comes out with a similar focal range at the same f-stop, a solid maybe. As long as you are OK with the issues we have found. ... show more

  • Best Standard Zoom for Sony FE
If there is only one lens you want to buy for Sony FE mount, this should be top of the list. Having focal length from 35-150 and aperture from f2 - f2.8, makes it a perfect one lens solution that can handle everything from regular snapshots to portraits both in good and low light. One con about this lens is the high price and the weight but considering that it can easily replace both 24-70 and 70-200 f2.8 lenses, it is a great alternative. ... show more

  • Simply excellent!
Excellent lens all around. Wouldn’t change it for anything… unless for the exact same one but lighter. It is heavy and you better get some muscles in those arms.
