  • XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion), LD (Low Dispersion), and GM (Glass-Molded Aspherical) elements greatly reduce color fringing, chromatic aberrations, and image distortion throughout the zoom range for improved clarity and color accuracy.
  • Rotating Arca-type tripod mount with incorporated strap attachment loops.
  • Switches redesigned for improved operability, plus Flex Zoom Lock mechanism to hold zoom position.

Description

The 150-500mm F5-6.7 is TAMRON's first ultra-telephoto zoom lens for full- frame mirrorless cameras that reaches the 500mm focal length and when used on APS-C mirrorless format cameras, the zoom range is an approximate 225-750mm full-frame equivalent. Even when extended to the 500mm telephoto end, the lens is still compact enough for comfortable handheld shooting. This zoom lets users enjoy casual shooting with steady performance and high image quality in the ultra-telephoto realm where conventional wisdom once dictated a tripod. To support handheld shooting in the ultra-telephoto range, the 150-500mm is equipped with VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive), a linear motor focus mechanism that delivers excellent quietness and agile performance, and TAMRON's proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) mechanism for high-level image stabilization. At the 150mm end, the lens offers an MOD of 23.6” for powerful and dramatic close-ups.

  • Good, well built lens.
Great lens. Functions well. Was like new in the box. Get ready for the weight. Get a steady tripod. Can be used handheld.

  • Solid Lens, No Apparent Use
The lens I received was in a completely sealed box, and I had purchased a brand new lens as well just to compare, I noticed no difference between the two boxes. Not seeing any issues with the lens during operation, extremely fast auto focus, only issue was some odd “ghosting” or “doubling” that I need to validate by taking some better nighttime photos tonight to ensure this isn’t a camera lens issue. Once I verify that I will bump to 5 stars. ... show more

  • Great Value for Telelens
Perfect purchase for Sony E-mount: 1/3 of the cost of a Sony lens, autofocus etc works well, using it only on automatic function so far, but happy with the results.

  • Renewed? It Wouldn't Even Mount to My Camera
I don't know who was checking this to see if it works, but they didn't do a good job. I have two Sony bodies -- an a7RIII and an a9 -- and it won't even mount on either camera body. How someone can say it's passed inspection when it won't even attach to a camera body is beyond me. Beyond that, the lens arrived in a box packed inside another box. The interior box wasn't sealed, and when I received the package the lens had fallen outside of the inner box and was rolling around loose. It also didn't include the rear lens cap, and the front lens cap that was included was a 77mm cap, not 82mm (the size of the lens). You could get lucky and find a lens that has been properly renewed, but please take heed and know you're taking a risk. ... show more

  • Do Not Deal with Hototronics….Please read!!!
I am not going to knock the lens…it was great…but it is too heavy for me to lug around while on vacation. My review will be one of caution…especially anyone purchasing this lens as “Renewed” from the Amazon store Hototronics. I purchased the Tamron 150-500mm Sony emount f/5.6-6.7 Di III VXD renewed lens on Amazon via Hototronics. The purchase price of the lens was $975.00 and $81.80 sales tax for a total of $1,056.80. I was interested in this lens after online reviews and I needed this focal zoom range for an upcoming vacation. I received the lens quickly via Fed Ex. It was well packed. Being an Amazon Renewed product, I figured this would be a safe product to check out as I’ve never had an issue with an Amazon return….until now. I used the lens for a couple of days in the back yard and quickly observed that it was too heavy and it’s not exactly what I’m looking for. I repacked the lens in the original shipping paper and container after carefully cleaning it again. I didn’t get it dirty but I wanted to make sure it was in pristine condition…just as I received it. A couple of quick clicks and I was able to return the item. No mention of the refund amount was disclosed. I figured I would get a 15% restocking fee because of the shipping costs each way. I was prepared for a $150.00 restocking fee (15%). After following the UPS return tracking number for a few days, the item eventually made it’s way back to the Hototronics Amazon Store located in Huntington Beach, California and signed for by Ryan. A couple of days went by. I knew they had received the lens, but I have not heard anything about a refund. This is, until this morning. I asked Alexa about a pending notification, and I was advised that a refund of $528.40 was made to my account. On a purchase to include tax ($1056.80), Hototronics charged me basically a 50% restocking fee. If you’re here, it’s because you are also a photographer. $528.40 would have bought me another nice lens for my Sony emount system. In fact, if they would be been upfront during the refund process, I would have never returned the lens in the first place. So Hototronics…I implore you to start putting your conditions of sales returns in your purchase page, and also include a note when someone is returning a product so any remaining customers you might have are aware that you will be ripping them off. I’ve been with Amazon forever and this is the worst return experience I’ve ever had. If you have a suggestions on actions I can take, please feel free to add to this thread. In the meantime, stay away from Hototronics! Stay far away!!! ... show more

  • Focus and Picture quality
The only reason for not 5 is the weight; this lens is and feels heavy. However, based on my experience, it is a much better lens that a Canon. Focusing is super fast, no breathing, persives contrast right away. The quality of the pictures is outstanding even at the end of 500 mm. I definitely recommend this product. ... show more

  • recived international copy of the lens, unable to be repaired by tamron in the future.
received a brand new appearing lens, but it is "grey market" international copy so it cannot be repaired ever by tamron in the US. better off buying a used lens that can be repaired in the future.
