The directions aren’t as clear as we would have liked BUT you have to pair the remote with the light through their app. We did that and then promptly deleted the app. Just want to switch the main light on and then the nightlight for during movies so you don’t fall in the dark. It also connects to the switch, so you don't have to totally rely on the remote itself. First off I absolutely love the lights. The only issue I had was pairing to make them all in sync. The instructions in the book are actually wrong. In order to pair, you have to 1) Turn the lights off by the wall switch and keep it off 2) Press the and hold the ON button on the remote for at least 8 seconds (with the switch still off). 3) While still pressing the ON button on the remote, turn ON the light switch on the wall and the lights will blink 3 times. Now, let go of the ON button on the remote. You're all synced up at this point. if it didn't work just repeat. If this helps one person, I have done my due diligence. ... show more

We put this light in our master bedroom. There is only one ceiling light in the room and the previous fixture wasn't bright enough. This one has plenty of brightness and the color back light option is very nice. My wife likes to put up Christmas lights during the dark winter months and she gladly took them down after I installed this light. I love having control of the light with my phone. We have been leaving the colored back light on when we go to bed and use the timer on the app to have it shut off after awhile. I also plan to use the scheduling feature when we are out of town to turn the light on and off for our cockatiel. When installing, try to get the mount to sit flush with the ceiling. My junction box was actually sunk in and I pushed the mount into the drywall to go flush to the junction box. This made installing difficult because the light actually hangs a little off of the ceiling so it was tough to push it tight enough and twist lock it into place. One feature I would like to see changed is the ability to set a personalized brightness percentage for the included remote control. Sometimes you don't want to have to fire up the app to turn the light on so it is nice to just quickly push a button on the remote. Unfortunately, the light then comes on at 100% ... which is VERY bright. For context, I usually have ours set to around 20-40%. Overall, I am a very big fan of the light and my biggest issue with it is something that could probably be fixed with an app update or maybe it's already there and I just need a better understanding of the app. ... show more

These lights were all I hoped them to be. Super easy to install and super bright! So bright you may actually want to adjust the brightness but you can use the remote for that. I installed them for my elderly parents who do not want another confusing remote to deal with so I set them to the desired brightness and I don't think they will ever need to touch the remote. I know I wondered a little bit and no, the remote is not required for these to work out of the box. ... show more
