Synology provides apps that provide the functionality (at least the basic functionality) of many standard cloud apps: photos, drive, backup, instant messaging, email, plex, etc. While it's not bug free, it's still pretty good. If you want to stop paying for data storage on someone else's cloud and become a little more independent while retaining a lot of the convenience of the cloud, this is a great option. ... show more

    • NAS is as expected, package came unsealed, someone had opened it
The NAS works perfectly, however the box was definetly not sealed and had been tampered with. Not sure what to think of that, as everything was working as advertised and all the components & accessories that are supposed to come with the NAS were included

It works well, the only thing I didn't know ahead of time was that I need to buy the small drive, I had to buy a couple drives and then returned them before getting the right ones. And of course, the smaller drives are more expensive...

I bought this and only wanted basic NAS and acceptable speeds. On a whim, I pointed this at my two IP cameras and have been very impressed with the security camera features. My only gripe is that the first two camera licenses are free and then it's ~$50 after that. I'm thinking about buying two more licenses and cameras for outdoor recording. PLEX is awesome. The file IO performance is great. This NAS easily saturates my AC1900 wireless network and comes close to being bottlenecked even on gigabit ethernet.     • Wonderful, reliable, little NAS
This is a great little NAS for ssd's and spinning laptop drives. Great for sharing files, backing up my laptop and wife's pc, and running some apps. I own three if them now, one is full of new SSD's, the others have spare spinning drives I had collecting over the years.

Had a bunch of used 1TB 2.5" 15mm SATA (Not SAS) enterprise drives laying around, figured I'd put them to use in this little NAS. The NAS wouldn't even recognise them. These work fine in my server and in my USB dock, but not in the DS620. Synology makes great stuff. No complaints about their products, quality or DMS OS. But if you are going to allow room for a 15mm enterprise class drive, you should probably make sure your device can power them. I'm guessing these drives consume more power than this little NAS was designed to put out? ... show more

Great "LITTLE" NAS... I bought this for its footprint... was able to configure with both a 500GB system and 13TB data synology raid volumes... is very quite and the footprint is tiny!
