I bought this tuner to use with an aftermarket head unit I bought from Crutchfield. They sell these as well but a but more expensive and available only as a kit with a Sirius antenna, which I did not need. This works great with the adapter cable which allows me to use it with the factory Sirius antenna. It actually can get more channels than bmy stick 2010 head unit. Very glad I made the upgrade. Easy to install. You have to know what other items are already in your vehicle. In my case, 2011 Tahoe, we had an aftermarket deck installed but it was using an OEM GM XM transmitter/antenna. If that's your situation, a Maestro SAT1 cable is $18 and easy to install. This whole install took about 10 minutes. Super easy! ... show more

    • Great Add-On for SiriusXM – Just a Few Minor Quirks
I recently purchased the SXV300 SiriusXM tuner to pair with my SiriusXM-Ready head unit, and overall, I’m very satisfied with the experience. It delivers on what it promises and made it easy to bring satellite radio into my car. Installation Setup was a breeze. The unit is plug-and-play, and I was able to use my factory satellite antenna with an adapter for my car, which was a pleasant surprise. The compact design allowed for easy placement behind the dash without crowding anything. Performance Reception has been excellent so far—no signal drops or static. The audio quality is a definite step up from standard FM, and it gives access to a huge variety of channels. Music, news, sports, talk shows—you name it, it’s there. Channel surfing and browsing through my head unit is fast and responsive. What Could Be Better There are a couple of small issues that kept me from giving this a full five stars. First, steering wheel controls are limited when it comes to browsing through satellite channels. I can skip stations, but I can’t scroll through my favorites, which is something I expected. Not a dealbreaker, but worth mentioning. Second, transferring an existing SiriusXM subscription to this unit came with a fee, which wasn’t clear up front. It’s a policy from SiriusXM, not the product itself, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re switching from another device. Final Thoughts If you already have a SiriusXM-Ready stereo, this tuner is a great way to unlock all that content without much effort. It works exactly as advertised, is easy to install, and provides high-quality satellite radio on the go. Aside from the slight steering control limitations and the subscription fee hiccup, I’m very happy with the purchase. I have (2) lifetime subs, this one was to finally upgrade my Sirius unit to SiriusXM for the new head unit I just got. I already have the upgrade in my other vehicle. Anyways, if you still have your Sirius only tuner and are keeping the same vehicle, the antenna plugs are the same so you don't have to rerun the antenna wire. ... show more
