I haven't had any issues with the base cracking as some of the other reviewers stated. This is for light work, not heavy duty use. I used it to hold some small wood discs while I did some wood burning and drilled small holes to add a key chain. As soon as I received it I attached it to my workbench, tightened it on, and then tried the lever that allows you to swivel the vise to the position you need. The lever for the swivel does not tighten down enough to stop the swivel from moving. Returned it.

    • the jaw opening only opened 1" wide, not 2"
the jaw opening is supposed to go up to 2", but mine only would go to 1". Tried WD-40 with no success. Liked this thing but had to send it back.

Use these to hold wooden yard figures while I do repairs on them, they work great and I can get the figures in any position I need!! Sometimes I can't get back to work on these for a week or so and these are still holding tight with no slip!
