I havent run in to a product that has given me a difficult time setting up that switchbot offers. That said their devices staying connected is the issue. These are great but I'd caution after about 10+ of their products in the house things stop connecting, the app goes side ways and whole bunch of other cool annyoying things you get to do to keep them connected. So after this I have some time to kill have three button pushers that keep disconnecting and have to always delete and add back. If you need a hobby then get some switchbots connecting them few times a day in the app and grouping them in the app will give you hours of fun time ... show more

    • New 1.3 FW trashed it?

Worked great for over a year. After the latest firmware upgrade to 1.3 it hasn't worked again. I took a second one out of the box which got auto-upgraded and also never worked. Update: After 24 hours or so of not working, it now works again. I don't know if there was a fw update since 1.3 that went into it automatically ... show more

The motion sensor is another addition to my Switchbot eco system, as a part of my smart house design. I have the Hub Minis, Bulbs, Plugs, and Thermostat/Hygrometer Plus, all performing various routines and automations, a total of 24 devices. All of the devices maintain connectivity to my network and router, and are simple to set up and manage wether its through the native Switchbot app, 3rd party apps like Simple Commands, or IFTTT, and my voice assistant "Alexa". For the office lights I went into the Switchbot app, performed the calibration for ambient light, and set up one for dim lighting and one for bright lighting. Created the required "Auto" routines/scenes to control the lighting. Now once motion is detected at the doorway the lights turn on and remain on while activity is taking place. I did need to set a condition for "no motion for 10 minutes" to assure the lights remain on while working in the office, but turn off automatically when the office is vacated. Switchbot has provide quality products for a reasonable price, they are my go to brand for smart home implementation! ... show more

Without getting multiple of these, you only know when someone (or thing) is there, not whether someone has arrived or is leaving. Even with multiple, you could not set up routines to run based on people arriving or leaving the area, which was the main selling point that the manufacturer was making. Easy, logical setup. Great solution idea. However, doesn't see well depending on the light of day and if it's in a dark area you will need to leave a light on. The bot with the mechanical finger is junk. There is no other way to put it. I bought two and they each lasted 60 days. The price went up again so I'm done. I was using them with motion detectors to open my dog door. It became so frustrating with the dogs often being locked outside because the motion detector had either too much sun or too little or the bot breaking that I scrapped the whole project. Hub, motions, bots and batteries put me out $150 and HOURS of frustration trying to tweek and fix it. There are a lot of good reviews which I had for the first month too. ... show more

I have had several messages with tech support. I seem to be the only that has this problem. I have it connected to plug to turn on/off when entering exiting a room. It will turn on or off OK. But won't trigger again with a few minutes in between entering or exiting. Should have returned in the thirty day window. Won't buy again for now. ... show more
