Description

The Vater brand was officially established in November of 1991, but the Vater family history with drumsticks started decades earlier, in the basement of boston's legendary Jack's drum Shop. There, Alan and Ron's grandfather jack Adams, hand turned drumsticks for the drummers like Buddy rich as early as 1956. In the early to mid 1980's, the Vater Brothers began producing private- label drumsticks alongside sticks for Vic Firth and Zildjian. A few years of this LED to the brothers deciding to move their business to a new factory in Holbrook mA. Over the past decade, the Vater family and product line has expanded greatly, introducing innovative products such as the splash stick and acoustic, and welcoming renowned drummers like Chad Smith, Stewart Copeland, and Josh freeze. At Vater, our goal is simple. . . To produce the very best drumsticks and percussion accessories in the world.

  • Perfect for vDrums
I play on an electric kit and after trying 6-7 different pairs of sticks I think I've found my perfect fit! These guys are insanely light due to their maple contruction yet still have 5B thickness that gives me as a new drummer a strong, confident grip on the stick. Some of the thinner sticks felt like toys in my hands and although they had a decent amount of rebound, they were so thin it was hard for me to keep a steady grip on the stick even with tape. This gives me a light stick with good rebound, and the solid feel I was looking for. Using these on an acoustic set will probably have you breaking them early an often, but as a vDrum player, I'd recommend these OVER the eStick by the other brand. ... show more

  • Light weight 5A
As a pro player and one who has purchased and tried many types of drumsticks, my input on these is this: If you like a larger diameter stick such as a 5B which I would think you already know what that is - this one is made of maple which is much lighter than the hickory. SO, bigger diameter (.059) and lighter. FYI, it's 16" long. As far as brand goes, Vater is one of the leading brands in competition with Vic Firth and Pro Mark. ... show more

  • Awesome sticks
These are balanced perfect. Certainly short longevity for heavy hitters. I recommend this stick for the light to medium players needing a lighter stick for quick rebound. I use Stick Wrap to absorb impacts which occur less in a more dense hickory stick. The taper is perfect but chips away faster than hickory from cymbal impact. ... show more

  • Great Lightweight Sticks
My favorite pair of sticks. Not heavy, the right thickness and length for me.

  • Excellent sticks.
If your looking for a fatter stick with lighter weight look no further. There are various signature models out there from Promark that are really similar but they’re going to cost ~$4-5 more for a pair. These are now the only sticks in my bag.

  • These sticks are the perfect thickness without all the weight
These sticks are the perfect thickness without all the weight. I have been using these sticks the last couple years and love how light they are. The only down side is they do break a lot easier then other wood, but they feel great in your hands.

  • Light 5Bs!
Nice and light 5Bs. A little more easily dented, but worth it. A great feel and sound to these sticks.

  • Vator sugar maple 5B
Wow...Feels great in the hand and is 16 inches long... @ .605 diameter. My normal go to stick which was a Vic firth 5B hickory is @.590 diameter) but the sugar maple is around 10% lighter. You get the weight of a 5A but in a 5B thicker diameter. The Sugar Maple probably won't last as long as the harder hickory. The wood tip does seem to hold up very well. Again these sticks feel amazing and are cheaper by far than Todd Sucherman's promark SD330 style maple sticks (@ .600). I absolutely LOVE them! This stick has improved my playing and comfort and is now all I use. Also, with every set of the Vater sugar maple 5B sticks I have received, all have been perfect with no warpage of any kind when rolling them...straight as an arrow! I will be buying plenty more of these. ... show more
