  • This device is more than I anticipated, great addition to Alexa and/or smart homes.
Color: White
This device is so much more than I had originally anticipated, it has full capability of adding so many different devices to any smart home ecosystem. I was able to use it to add a decorative light that I have and uses a remote and has several functions, and was also able to add all of my flameless candles that use a remote as well. When I first bought it, I wasn’t really sure if it was something that was a necessity but as I’ve been building my smart home, I become a bit spoiled with the idea of automation and after getting this device, I found countless additional items in my home that use remote that I’ve been able to add to this hub. It was also able to connect to Alexa so now I can simply say Alexa commands and have all of my candles turn on or off as just a simple example. If you already have a smart home, then I definitely recommend this to unlock new potential to devices that typically aren’t “smart” or even if you don’t have a smart home but have an Alexa device or a Google home, I would still consider this to be able to use your voice instead of using a remote to control devices. I’m looking forward to the upcoming holidays as I know I have a lot of decorations that use remotes and have a feeling I will find even more potential to use this device. ... show more

  • This works!
Color: White
We have our master bedroom on a 2nd level that gets really hot in the summer, so we have an air conditioner unit in the room to keep it comfortable. Unfortunately, the AC unit we have was purchased a few years ago and does not have Alexa support, so we have to remember to go upstairs every night in the summer at least an hour prior to bedtime to manually turn it on to make it comfortable to sleep. I was considering buying a new AC unit simply for the Alexa support, but started looking into other ideas because it didn't make sense to replace a working unit simply for Alexa support. I found several products including SwitchBot, but was skeptical at first. However, I went ahead and bought SwitchBot yesterday and received/installed it this morning and I am sold! Installation and linking to Alexa was really simple. The only issue I encountered was my AC unit was not in the list of products and the templates it recommended didn't work with my AC unit, but that was easily overcome by using the learning feature. I can now sit comfortably in my living room and tell Alexa to turn on/off the AC in our master bedroom without having to go upstairs and manually turn it on. I've also integrated it into our bedtime routine in Alexa to automatically turn on with our bedroom lights, etc. If you have a similar need, don't hesitate buying this product! ... show more

  • Works for what I needed
Color: Black
I needed it to control an AC unit remotely and a few other things like TV and lights. Works pretty good. A little odd when it determines the temp it chooses, but gets the job done. It does the main job I needed to. It doesn't work perfectly which is why I gave it 4 stars. I would recommend for those needing remote access to devices. you can do automated flows and manual steps which make it very useful. Setup was pretty easy. Seems to have a wide variety of templates and you can manually set certain buttons. Overall - I really like it and it works for what I need. ... show more

  • Super frustrating and clunky to connect Bot to Alexa, but it WILL work.
Color: White
Update: the company reached out after seeing my review and wanted to help address my issues. They told me that you SHOULD be able to access Cloud Services without setting up an infrared remote, so maybe that was a fluke on my end. But if you do not see that option I still think #2 below is worth trying. — Good lord, the amount of time I spent trying to get this hub to talk to my SwitchBot and to Alexa. I bought a SwitchBot to press down on the switch that turns on my bedroom fan, and I wanted to add that to my Alexa “goodnight” routine, so I bought this Hub. As someone who tore my hair out trying and failing many times to get this set up, here are some things that helped: 1. Here’s how this actually works: first you need to set up the Hub, AND IT HAS TO BE CONNECTED TO 2.4 GHz WIFI. This will NOT work if it’s connected to 5GHz wifi. Everyone’s router is different with this but you may need to look up how to enable 2.4 GHz wifi on your router or other wifi device (I had to temporarily disable 5GHz via my Eero App to connect the Hub to 2.4 GHz.) 2. Next, you need to connect the Hub to an infrared remote. Don’t want to use the Hub for something with a remote? Too bad. You have to set one up even if you don’t plan to use it. The “Cloud Services” feature to make the SwitchBot talk to Alexa/Google Asst. won’t be available until after your Hub has been connected to a remote. (I don’t get it either, just do it!) I connected my Roku TV remote, but any IR remote (NOT Bluetooth remote) will work. 3. Look up “SwitchBot Hub Mini Connect Everything FULL REVIEW” on YouTube from the account TechGuru Andrew. It was helpful for the hub and remote setup steps. (Also note the top comment, which reads: “To connect Bluetooth Devices like the SwitchBot Bot with the Hub Mini, you need to go to the Bot inside the app, open its settings and tap "add and move to top" — important!) 4. After doing all those things, you should be able to turn on Cloud Services for your SwitchBot and then connect to Alexa. Godspeed, dear buyer. I hope any of this helps. ... show more
