  • Best Large Form JoyCon I've Tried!
Color: Black-white
Like a lot of people, I absolutely hate the stock Nintendo JoyCon. Unlike a lot of people, I'm very particular with the feel of my controllers due to physical limitations and game preferences. I've been on the hunt for a great set of large wireless JoyCon for years at this point. I think I've finally found them in this Coiorvis set! I used the original Binbok JoyCon and they were OK, but the Dpad was absolutely terrible, analog wasn't well implemented and buttons rattled like crazy when touching or moving the controllers. I then tried a revised set similar to the Binbok from NexiGo with a *slightly* better Dpad but the buttons were even worse, and still the same cheap rattly plastic contruction. I had to Frakenstein those two controllers together (NexiGo shell and board, Binbok buttons and membranes, and upgraded batteries to 1000mAH) and modify the Dpad in order to get something resembling a decent 3rd party large JoyCon that *mostly* fit my needs. This Coiorvis set is a completely different design vs. the Binbok and NexiGo, and is more of a Hori Split Pad Pro clone. And that's perfectly fine! The controllers are very well built and feel like a premium product, as they should given the retail price. The buttons all provide the nice tactile feedback and respond immediately to presses. The analog sticks are lightly tensioned, seem to have very little deadzone, and are quite accurate from my usage so far. The Dpad on this is actually pretty great for what I'm doing. I haven't had any problems with the platformers and shumups I've played with it, which I can't say for the other large JoyCon I've had. I don't use motion controls, so I can't comment on that. I can say the rumble on these is very nice, not too aggressive but also adjustable if needed, and way better than any other 3rd party controller I've tried. My only real complaints about these JoyCon are more of a preference thing. The analog sticks could probably use just a bit more tension, but for most people the lighter tension is probably great. Also this set doesn't fit into my FlipGrip because the supports hanging off the back of the controllers get stuck before the JoyCon are secure. Kind of a bummer since I play a lot of vertical games, but there are other 3D printed options that should work instead. Overall I highly recommend these! ... show more

  • Better than vanilla joycons
Color: Black-white
Regular joycon can be pricey and aren't very comfortable. I got the HORI Split Pad Pro and really enjoyed that, but eventually found myself wishing they had motion controls. So then I looked into these. Here are my thoughts after about a year. They are very similar (but not identical) in shape and feel to the SPPs. The control sticks are an improvement, though my thumb slides on them somewhat. Coiorvis seem aware of this, as I also received a pair of thumbstick caps to improve the grip (though I didn't use them, I don't like the paw print design). Dpad feels about the same on both (which is good). The other buttons are all perfectly fine as well. Biggest improvement over the SPP is that you can actually take these off the Switch and use them as Joycons. That was the main appeal, and it delivers. The wireless works well, though sometimes has connection issues if blocked physically (similar to real Joycons). The motion is serviceable; it's a bit faster to drift compared to normal joycon but not that bad. You can even put the vanilla Joycon straps on them if you want. My pair came with the connector piece to make it a full controller (I was glad, since when I ordered I remember it being unclear if it would) and it works great. It's bigger than a Pro Controller in this form factor (mostly vertically) but still pretty good to use as an extra controller or to transition from playing in handheld. It has "HD" rumble! Though it's very strong, I had to set it to the weakest setting (which was very confusing to do). It's not as good as real Joycon rumble but it's there so that's a plus. The faceplates are really nice! I kinda wish you could buy other colors of just the plates, but the white and black I received are great. And they don't feel unstable or anything while playing. The biggest issue I've had with this controller is just that the extra features can be a bit complicated to use. Whether it's rumble strength, the programmable back buttons, or turbo mode, they require obscure combinations of button presses and holds of different lengths. Turbo/remapping was much easier to do on the SPP by comparison. One other small issue I've noticed as that, while playing handheld, very rarely my right controller would seemingly disconnect for a split second. It hasn't happened very often but it's annoying when it does. Not a glaring issue for me since I mostly play on Pro Controller anyway, but could be an issue if you plan to play with these heavily. Could also just be the one controller though, so it may not even affect you. Overall, these are a solid pick depending on what you need. If you don't mind not having motion/rumble/wireless, get the Split Pad Pro. But if you really want those features in the same form factor as the SPP, these are the way to go. Only get vanilla Joycons if you want better motion/rumble. ... show more

  • Best controllers for Switch
Color: Black-white
Wow! I didn't expect these controllers to be so good. These controllers are the perfect size for adult hands. They are also not excessively big, so they are easy to travel with. The buttons, D-pad, and stick feel great. I have had other controllers - like Hori and those felt cheap. This controller is a pleasure to use. Its not too loud and its smooth and responsive. The controller shape fits my hands perfectly. I love that they can be charged at the same time with one cable. They fit my Switch more snuggly then the actual Nintendo controllers. The material does not feel cheap at all. The controllers connected immediately to my Switch when I took them out of the box. I have not had a connection issue yet. The only thing I had to do was calibrate one of the controllers. For some reason the controller was calibrate a little to the right. It was an easy fix. I just ran the calibration software on the Switch. Took less than a minute. Seriously, get these controllers! I am currently using one of the cases made for Hori to store the switch and controller for transportation. Great job on these controllers! I love them. ... show more

  • Don't pay extra for black
Color: Black-white
The controller is great works well feels good in the hands. Super comfortable to hold. Do not pay extra to buy the black controller. Mine came with magnetic covers the white ones come off and there are black ones in the packaging. Swap them out and save 15-20 bucks. Only downside to these controllers is the vibration settings (while adjustable) were very strong and kind of annoying when playing in bed late at night I had to turn it off but that doesn't bother me not using vibration. Controller is good for playing on the TV too the spacer provided gives the controller a good size and feel. Definitely would buy again if I had to. ... show more
