Swiss Gear is a budget priced subsidiary of Victronix (Swiss army knife). I own a Victronix carry on luggage that I have used for over 15 years so I am trying this brand. First off the bag weighs about 9.5 lbs empty so is light. The fabric is nice woven but I can see that the weave is a little soft and may wear faster than my Victronix. First trip is a month away so I shall see how it survives airline handling. So far I like it very much. One big compartment with a couple of pockets on outside rolls nice. I love these and get new ones every couple or few years. I travel a lot and the body can wear and wheels may get funky requiring repair or replace but these things have a lifespan and as long as you accept that then this is a great suitcase. If you travel by public airlines the baggage handlers may be rough on your stuff and this is what causes wear. If you are simply throwing these in a car then no wear. I like these soft body because the won’t crack like some hard shell ... show more

This bag is roomy enough that you’ll probably hit a weight limit before you run out of space. I use packing cubes and I’m able to run the two straps inside through the handles of the packing cubes to make sure everything is secure. The teal color is fairly unique and easy to spot at baggage claim. The wheels are high quality. They roll very well on all four wheels or on two if I pull it behind me. The zippers are solid and seem like they’ll hold up for the life of the bag. This does come with a plastic pouch for toiletries but it’s a bit small. I use the pouch from my old bag (same brand) and it connects with the same snaps. There’s a mesh pouch on the inside of the “lid”, but it’s a free for all if items floating around. I love this bag. I have extra space when packing for an 8 day trip. It’s easy to keep everything organized. It’s great and I’d recommend it to anyone who is on the fence. ... show more

    • Good value for suitcase with nice colors and outside pockets but mediocre inside organization

I was attracted to this Swiss-Gear roll-aboard because I was happy with the SwissGear brand in other products I own, and I liked the nice color selection. The bag seems relatively sturdy. It has compact wheels that are fully enclosed/captured (as opposed to other brands that put the rotating part of the wheels on the outside of the caster, making me feel like there are double the failure points). It does not have an embedded lock, which would be nice to have but is not that big of a problem. I really like the two pockets on the outside -- one of them great for travel documents and the other one good for carrying a bag for liquids that is easy to access. What I'm not that thrilled about is the organization of the inside. The pockets don't provide a lot of useful organization, and the included wet bag that is buttoned to the inside doesn't make much sense as it seems so natural to put the liquid bag in the outside small pocket. I purchased this bag when it was priced at $95, which is a good value for what you get. Is it my favorite roll-aboard bag? Probably not. But it seems like it will survive a long time, and it has convenient outer pockets. So, I'll keep it. ... show more

We used these for a plane/train/bus/cruise trip to Alaska and they worked really well. Very light weight, good size, quality zippers and material. It’s nice that they fit inside each other for long term storage.

A little roomier than a similar suit case it replaces, very easy to maneuver, seemingly durable despite the lack of a hard shell, and looks great. As far as weight it's not particularly light, or heavy....maybe a bit on the heavier side, but not very. Seems very durable, and because it lacks a harder shell, a little more pliable.
