Elegant matte black toilet. Works fine. However the finish does not cover the porcelain where the lid sits on the tank. I noticed this comment in other reviews prior to purchasing and hoped this quality control issue was resolved. Nope- I fixed using a black sharpie but at the price point expected a complete, high quality finish. This is the second time we install one of these. I Like that it’s one piece (fewer seams to clean) and the concealed trap also makes for easier cleaning. They are not the easiest install but that’s true of all concealed trap commodes

Got the 1.28gpf Swiss Madison St. Tropez One Piece Elongated Toilet. Here are a few things I've observed so far. Pro's It does have a good sleek look with the skirted bowl design. The seating height is 17 1/4" with the seat so it's more comfortable than standard seat height. It's space-saving as it has a slim tank. It has a large trapway and I haven't seen any clogs so far. Con's You might need to shorten the water line pipe to the valve for the toilet as the toilet's back wall is around 3 3/4" from the bathroom wall (assuming 12" rough-in). Despite the impressive claim of 1000 MaP flush score, its Vortex (tornado) flush performance has these flaws surprisingly: - It leaves solid residues sometimes, or cloudy water of broken-down solids, which looks gross - Surprisingly, the supposedly powerful Vortex flush isn't able to push toilet paper near the front top center of the bowl area. I even placed a single piece of toilet paper just below the top center area, and it stayed put after the flush. So 25% of the times I'd need to flush twice to completely clear up the bowl. If the toilet paper is just right below the front top center area of the bowl I'd have to use a bowl brush to manually push it down occasionally so it can be flushed away. This means more work needed. I also observe that it struggles to push items into the trapway if there're more toilet papers. I have 2 AS Cadet 3 toilets one 1.6gpf one 1.28gpf. The 1.6gpf operates powerfully with 3" flapper and just traditional rim holes design (it has a very large front center rim hole to push toilet papers near the front top center area quickly down to the bowl). The 1.28gpf AS toilet is a bit weaker but it does flush everything adequately. I'm struggling if I need to return this SM toilet. I expected a decent Vortex flush performance but this is disappointing. The Vortex tornado flush pushes items horizontally instead of vertically downward. If not designed right this might not push items near the front top area of the bowl strong enough. The toilet has nice good look but it's not performing well with these flaws. I'm trying to see if I can replace with a universal flapper that changes the toilet to 1.6gpf to see if that helps. Not sure if SM can try experimenting 3" flapper if that helps as well. ... show more
