  • Nice addition
The media could not be loaded. Left a review (with a video using the standard wedge) on the Swisher LSRB125341350 34 Ton 12. I can see what they meant as there are holes (not threaded) in the top. Useless holes I may say...probably something to do with manufacturing? Vertical position is best used with real big logs that you can't lift, so I rolled my 4 foot stump over, and set it in place, put the 4-way on and gently and carefully guided it down to meet the log. Yes, I agree, this option actually works best on normal sized logs in the horizontal position, which you can lift, allowing the 4 way to do it's job. But the 4-way did help a bit on the behemoth. I can say I love it more than I hate it, and it does have a place on my set-up. This video is only a comparison with a similar sized log (the one I used with the 4-way was a little bigger than the one I used with the standard wedge). I don't know if this option fits over other brands of wedges/splitters, but I'll have to bring it with me and try it out on other machines. I would definitely recommend a 4-way option as it does help to reduce your splitting time. The 4 way option cut my time down by at least 15 seconds (remember, I did use a larger piece with the 4 way). Add that up over the course of cords(I have 12 cord this year to do) and I'm sure it's a time saver. LOVE IT! ... show more

  • Gets the Job Done
I used this on a 33 ton Troybilt Splitter. The slip over was just a few hundredths of an inch too small to fit my splitter head. So I had a friend who is a welder cut it and move the back plate out just a little bit. This tool kicks butt. It removes on and off easily so when you need to go back to single splitting (e.g. vertical splitting) it's an easy switch. You can't use it in the vertical, but I was crunching 24 inch plus knotty pine logs with ease on the horizontal. Big time saver too. I understand from other reviews some splitter heads it will fit and some it won't. if you have access to a welder just in case it needs to be modified, you can't beat the quality and performance and you can't go wrong at this price. This is one heavy duty piece of steel. One of the best purchases I've made. ... show more

  • Decent Enough
Bought for my troy bilt 27 ton splitter. This is off brand for TB, but a little grinding and it worked fine. Cuts down the splitting time quite a bit. Solid item, but excessively priced.

  • That's a lot of money for crappy welds and mild steel
I've broken the strap off of the back of this wedge twice. The first time was after only about 10 hours of use in some very tough oak. I welded the hell out of it after that on the inside and outside of the strap. It went another 50 hours doing ok and now the metal strap broke. Not the weld, but the actual metal. This was $99 when I bought it. That's a lot of money for crappy welds and mild steel. Yes it works on my old splitter, yes it isn't designed for it and fits poorly. It works. I realize I'm abusing it so I give it 3 stars, but the quality still sucks compared to the price. I think this time I will weld some metal onto the top to prevent some flexing. ... show more

  • Fantastic addition to your splitter
Fantastic wedge. I have a 25ton cub cadet splitter, which is the same machine as the Troy built. I only had to do a very minimal amount of grinding to the back of my factory wedge in order to get the swisher to fit. I also cut two pieces off of the factory log dislogers so the the wedge can be fully retracted. The key to using these wedges is to be realistic as to the size of log and how knotty it is. I think a lot of negative reviews are from people who try to put this on and use it for everything they split. If you are careful and learn what size logs it works well for, it’s great and saves you slot of time. I also welded a handle on top of the wedge to make removing it even faster/easier. When i see a very knotty piece of wood, or something too large, I slide the four way off, split it with the single wedge, then replace the swisher for the easier stuff. This can really increase the rate you split your firewood, but understand it is not to be used for every shape , size and type of log. ... show more

  • It takes more power to run, doesn't save any time, slows the spiltter down.
It fit right on my MTD splitter without any modifications.

  • Great 4way splitter
This 4 way wedge works extremely well and I am very impressed with how it splits. It is very easy to mount on your splitter by just simply sliding it over the original wedge. By adding this 4way wedge to your splitter it basically cuts your splitting time in half by doing double the amount of work in half the time. It is extremely heavy duty and I don't imagine this thing every breaking unless used improperly. Would recommend this to any novice or pro looking to find a better way to split logs for personal or business use. ... show more

  • Buy This, You Will Love It!
Well, this 4-way is one tough cookie. We have a 27 ton Troy Bilt splitter and as several reviews have stated, there is a bit of grinding to do on the back and angles of the OEM wedge. For an old fella, this took about 40 minutes (rest, water, etc.) until the Swisher could fit over it; this is worth the extra modifications on the Troy. I called Troy before buying this and asked if they were planning to offer their own 4-way. No was the answer due to a lack of a market. Huh!? Search for a 4-way that fits a Troy and there is nothing. But, there are many, many Troy owners that are looking and searching. No market? Poodoo.... As far as the 4-way being pushed off the Troy wedge? Tap the bottom hole on the Swisher to a 3/8 course thread and simply screw in a short 3/8 bolt thru the Swisher and into a 1/4 in deep hole drilled in the back of the Troy wedge. The Swisher flats are too wide to allow the wedge to fully retract, so we loosen the set bolt and remove the Swisher. The Swisher flats set higher than smaller logs so we use only for larger diameter 10in and better logs. Have fun, you will not be disappointed with the Swisher. ... show more
