The weather finally turned warm enough for this product to properly show how well it works. The first issue I see with this, is the amount of floor space it takes up. It is a bulky unit that sits on the floor and needs a clear area around it for good air flow. It's not something you could put on a table or in a window to prevent it from being obtrusive in your living space. It has to sit on the floor. The next issue is the way it needs to be filled with water. The water goes in the top while the tank to hold the water is on the bottom. You need to fill it to a minimum before using the "cool air" feature. So the water goes in slowly, trickles down to the bottom and it's a long tedious process to fill it to the max capacity line. Several refills with a large jug, bucket or bowl are needed to fill the tank. You must pour the water in the top slowly so that it can funnel down and it can overflow onto the floor if you pour too quickly. The gauge to see the water level is not easy to see and read as it's in the front on the very bottom. As you fill the unit, you constantly need to step back to read the gauge. It's also difficult to read in certain lighting since the gauge is clear and so is the water that's showing thru. Once filled, you can add the ice packs to the top of the unit where the water went in. The ice packs aren't the best and they can leak from the caps. I was careful not to over fill the ice packs prior to freezing them, yet I still noticed leaking even with the cap tightened and seated correctly. (Not a case of operator error. The instructions were followed completely.) As for how it functions overall, it did move air. The air felt slightly cooler but I didn't notice a huge difference in air quality and comfort throughout the room I was trying to cool. You need to be in close proximity to the unit to actually feel the cooler air and get any benefit from it. If you are sitting on the opposite side of the room from where the unit is, you may not feel it, depending on how hot the room is and how much you are trying to cool it down. It is on the more quiet side for a fan or ac. My window ac unit is actually much louder than this cooler. The control buttons on the unit are sensitive and responsive. I haven't used the remote yet as I have been using the buttons on the unit when I fill it with water. The remote is a nice feature to have tho. The unit itself, seems durable, sturdy and well made. I don't expect this to burn out in a couple of years. I do expect with the quality construction that it should last several years. For the price, this unit is ok. I would call it a glorified fan. You can get a good tabletop or window fan for cheaper. Does it rival an air conditioner in cooling power? I don't think so. It's about 2 steps down from an ac unit in terms of coolness. So is it worth the price? I guess it depends on what you are looking for. The quality construction is worth it. It does move air well. It does cool air slightly. It is also bulky and time consuming to fill with water for use. (You can use it without water if you don't turn on the cooling function, but at that point it is nothing more than a glorified fan.) I rate this at 4 stars for quality construction and for working decently. When summer is in full swing and you want relief from the heat, this is a decent option. (On the other hand, you do have options and could find something more effective in this price range.) 4 stars rating

This is a really nice portable portable swap cooler. It blows nice cool air, I use this in my garage its doesn't take up a lot space and the wheels allow for easy movement. It comes with 4 ice packs to use if I want the swap cooler water a bit colder. All I do is add water and turn it on and have instant cool air ,it allows has a remote control so I don't have to get up to change the speed, the oscillating fan design helps to bring the temperature down in minutes, this summer when the temperature reach 110 I will be much cooler, this a very good deal for the price.

I never owned one of these swamp coolers before and I wanted to give it a try to replace my standing fan I been having for a few years now. I don't see myself ever going back to the standing fan again after setting this up. It kept my room cool especially at night it was at its best but that's not to say it isn't good during the day when it's hot. This thing kept me cool while in my room playing on my laptop. I was impressed with how well it cooled my room because I have a pretty big room. I'm in a basement apartment but it's 1750 Sq ft for a one bedroom and upstairs is a 3 bedroom the same size. Just to give you a little info on where I was using it.

Pros: Easy to set up Not too loud White noise Comes with 4 ice packs Wheels Cons: It’s not the most appealing to look at White frankly it keeps the room cool but you won’t notice a hiss difference. Instead of sweating and being hot, the room is just bearable.

Lets address the things I don't like first. * It is VERY slow to fill with water. There is no opening in the tank, there is a shallow tray at the top that can hold the ice packs. This is where the water is pumped into and then drips down through the cooling pads, so 5 gallons will take a long time for the water to trickle down into the tank. * the ;mode' switch has a normal and natural. The natural mode is ridiculous. It basically cycles abruptly through the different fan speeds and a dead stop. The display doesn't show WHICH speed you are on. Worthless. I don't use it. * When you turn it on, it defaults to 'fan' mode. If you set to cool, it doesn't retain that setting the next time you turn it on. The Good. 3 fan speeds, as quiet as a cooler can be. There are 2 vents on the front, top, and bottom, which can be adjusted to point up or down independently. There is another set inside that moves left to right and are controlled by the 'swing' button. 5 gallons is a decent size tank and should last several hours.

We got this to use on our patio and so far we have used it twice as the temperatures have warranted. Both times my husband filled it almost full and we ran it for the entire afternoon and up till sunset without it running out of water. We didn't use the ice packs, but just water from the hose and when running you could feel the temperatures within 15ft of the unit was much cooler than if you walked further away. It wasn't like having an A/C unit, but compared to just a fan it was much more effective. We used the swing mode the last time and that helped cover a larger area but only reduced the overall cooling effect minimally. Overall we are very satisfied with this unit and as temperatures continue to rise, we will be getting a lot of use from this unit.
