Hello everyone, I live in Florida and rent a room in a huge 15 bedroom/bathroom house. Well, it's been heavenly for a year and a half until a rare occurrence. A high voltage wire caught fire and proceeded to ignite our two ac units. It's been three weeks now without ac and the temperatures are in the 90's. I ordered this Swamp Cooler, 1800 CFM Windowless Portable Air Conditioner in the hopes for some relief until we get new ac units. I would like to tell you my experience and what I think. I am not going to elaborate just the highlights. The Swamp Monster isn't a regular AC---it's an evaporative cooler, so it works completely differently. Instead of using refrigerant to pull heat out of the air, it cools by evaporating water and blowing that cooled air into the room. And I learned last night when I closed my door at bedtime my room became a sauna. You have to leave a door or window open. It needs a steady flow of fresh air coming in and then the humid air will go out. I did this and it really makes a noticeable difference. Another thing is my rooms carpeted so positioning it is a lot different than if you have bare floors. I have mine on a wooden tabletop without the legs by the door. It reaches me three yards away on medium. The freezer packs are nice for boosting the coolness, but they melt in minutes, so I wish there was some way to keep them frozen longer. So far, the temp stays at 79-80 degrees when ice packs are in there. I can't complain too much as it is helping enough especially when right in front of it. The remote is pretty cool and the oscillating even cooler. Overall, it's not a replacement for a traditional AC, but if you keep that door cracked open it can definitely take the edge off the heat. Just be ready to rotate those freezer packs more often than you expect. ... show more

I thought it was 64 Fahrenheit, but swamp cooler 77 and 78 Fahrenheit. My fan is better swamp cooler.

    • Cool but not cold
Although the product is decent, I am disappointed in that it really didn't do a very good job of cooling the entire living room area like we thought it would. Even with using the ice caps it still didn't get cold enough for comfortability.

Save your money and buy a $20 fan. This is a fan that you put water and ice packs in. It circulates cool air but it doesn't cool the temperature down in our bedroom. It's just as loud as any fan. We are not impressed.

Glorified fan and that’s putting it nice. I had this running for 4 hours and it didn’t cool my apartment down by even 1 degree. Ice packs melt in minutes. Also took 4 days longer than anticipated to be delivered. Save your money.
