    • Impressive and a little bit more than I expected.
So happy with this bike - exactly fits my desires! My other ebike is a mountain bike with slightly less capability, but still used for off road; the swagtron is definitely a road bike, but a very good one even without the assist. I love the three levels of assist choice (or none). Funny story - I knew it was probably just a calibration thing with the meter but after 35 miles the first day I got it, it showed only one bar down out of five for charge. So, second day was going to try and do at least 15 miles to try and drive the battery down. I live up in the hills but some of the best rides are down along the flats near the Strait of San Juan de Fuca. Anyway, so cruised down the hill to try a new route with an aggressive profile...ran out of juice at the furthest point, so was pretty much without assist across the flats and up the hill. The bike was great! A little more workout perhaps than I was expecting, but made it across and up . BTW, I'm not a Mr universe...This is just a decent road bike without the power assist, but toward the end, i have to admit that I was looking for the lower end of 21 speeds. Value for this product? Extraordinary! I saw on the site they are now backlogged but offering a $100 discount. Im so happy to have got the last several available shipped sooner than expected. i would not hesitate as most bicycles seem to be backed up even further. Great bike...exceeded expectations...quick shipping (when they have availability). Not a shill; just think this is an awesome bike for what I wanted. Great range...great flexibility...not sure how it compares as just a throttle ride but there a much better options out there for throttle rides. ... show more

    • Absolutely, a wonderful bike if nothing happens during shipping.
First, let me let everyone know that I am NOT a bicycle enthusiast. With that being said, I bought a bike for exercise... an electric bike because I am a 6' 5", 60-year-old man. Small or folding bikes would not work for me. The thought was if my body ran out of gas, I could still get home. As a kid, I was a bicycle nut case. I have put lots of bicycles together from junk and spare parts for friends and to practice tricks on. An electric bike seemed like a good idea to me because I've been a motorcycle enthusiast for 45 years and an electronics technician for about the same amount of time. With all the two wheel and electronics experience, an electric bike just seemed to be the right fit. But paying $1000 or more for a bicycle just seemed a little unpractical. So, I decided to go for a less expensive mid-level bike. Basically, what an upper mid-level non-electric bike would cost for this size bike. Now for my thoughts about this electric bike: It was packaged EXTREMELY well and delivered fast. I put the bike together and noticed a couple of problems that had nothing to do with the pre-assembly. There were problems with the shipping similar to the reviews I've read. The kickstand and the bike rack got bent during shipping. I considered this minor and took the bike for a ride. The bike is simply amazing! I thought 7 gears would not be enough. Boy was I wrong. A 5-mile ride (one way) w/o assist mode was enough to pull all the gas out of my body. In bike mode, I couldn't even tell it was an electric bike. I expected it to be heavier. It felt light as a feather... and is. The seat was a little uncomfortable and I will need to extend the goose neck, but everything else was flawless. The gears shift smoothly and quietly. I wasn't too sure about the standard bike brakes, but they worked great as well. This is not a mountain bike. There is no suspension, no shock absorbers, no fat tires. This bike is rigid...but comfortable. Even more so when I replace the seat. It surpassed all my expectation in bike mode. On the return trip, I used the assist mode, and I was very impressed. All three modes worked as advertised, and my sore legs really appreciated it. You can really feel the assist mode kick in, but kick in smoothly. Cruise control worked great as well. Throttle response is smooth as well. I had about half charge on battery (as shipped) and the 5-mile return trip the battery was still at half charge when I got home. Top speed at half charge was about 17 mph. Overall, I am so happy and satisfied with this purchase... Not 100% because I have not dealt with customer service, yet. I will update this review once that is done, along with any more info I gather, battery range, top speeds in different modes, etc. Now for the cons: Uncomfortable seat - That is a matter of preference. I have a boney butt. That shouldn't take away from the bike's performance. No adjustment for handlebar height - If the seat can raise and lower, the handlebar should be able to do it as well. The kickstand being bent - It was easy to see that the company tried its best to stop it from happening, but it is the lesser of two evils. If you want a bike 90% pre-assembled, it's something you have to hope doesn't happen to you. My bike rack being bent - Not a big problem but bigger than it sounds. The battery is housed in the bike rack. I cannot remove the battery. I can charge the battery on the bike. It truly isn't that big of a deal. I am just one of those people that want things to work as designed. And it would be more convenient to charge the battery anywhere. overall, this is a wonderful bicycle for exercise, quick runs to the store, and Neiborhood commuting. Is this bike worth the money... Yes! This bike already gets four stars from me. Hopefully, my update will show a five-star rating. ... show more

    • Arrived DOA Dead On Arrival.
The Swagtron arrived on time and new. Everything was there, and nothing is missing. It took me half an hour to unbox and to set up the bicycle. Then , suddenly, everything is going wrong! I cannot turn on the power. I check the battery level; there is zero voltage. I try to charge the battery, but the battery light remains green (no charging taking place). I try to remove the battery; it remains stuck inside the rack. Furthermore, the kickstand won't retract?? The seller is Adorama of NYC, not from Amazon which has a convenient return policy for defective sold product. Adorama of NYC only offers me the choice of refund minus sales tax. But I have to pay the cost of USPS shipping back to the big apple. This is how the liberal Left conducts business. Thank you Adorama for ruining my Christmas shopping with defective merchandise. Next time, I will order from Amazon or from Swagtron in Indiana. I am drawing a line in the sand. I make a resolution of not buying anything coming from New York or from California. ... show more

    • Great Appearance in an Electric Bike Design
This is not a real powerful electric bike, yet at my advanced age, it is fast enough for me speeding along at 15 mph on the flat. The bike arrived well packaged and double boxed. Everything was there and easy to assemble with the included tools. There are four riding modes, peddle it like a regular bicycle, mode 1 is light electric assist when peddling, mode two is aggressive electric assist when peddling and mode 3 is electric with or without peddling to include cruise after seven seconds. There is no need to hold the thumb throttle in cruise as the bike will learn hold the speed. Cruise can be cancelled by lightly applying either hand brake. I like the classic style of the bike as most electric bike are just too strange in appearance. ... show more

    • Tire blew in about 2 minutes
Built without a problem. Tires were properly inflated and the tire blew in less then 2 min. Spent a lot of money on this and making payments on a bike i now have to buy a new inner tube for. Yay.
