This was purchased for both visual and guide scope use. Excellent as a visual device with the SVBony right angle eyepiece. But the removable helical focuser was somehow locked up and did not function with a digital guide scope. Can that component be replaced?

    • Nice little scope. Much better then I expected.
Lots of option on setting this scope up. it has 2 different focusing methods built-in a rotational style and your standard push pole with a setscrew to hold it in place. Works great for Visual or spotting and as a guides scope. Would be perfect if it came with a 90°.

    • Good, but stiff focuser
First, mine was missing the adjustment screws. Hopefully, the replacement has them. Other than that it seems to be a nice scope, except…., they use a really sticky grease on the helical focuser, and it’s real hard to turn it. Inside where it’s warm, it takes quite a bit of effort. Outside in the 20s, it’s reallly hard. Hey SvBony, Super Lube! It you’re going to use it as guide scope with a digital camera, or as a finder where it’s pretty much set it and forget it, it will work fine. If you’re going to use it as a spotting scope where it will need regular focusing, it would be a pain. Sliding the extension tube in and out to focus actually works better than using the helical focuser. If you intend on using an erecting prism, you’ll need to remove it anyway. ... show more

This scope is quality-built. Performs as advertised. I highly recommend it. It has multiple end uses. (Finder, tracker, and image capabilities).

    • Great for finder scope
I needed a finder scope that could be used with a 90 deg mirror and illuminated eyepiece. This appears to be the only SVBONY finder scope that can be used with a mirror. I tried a 60mm finder/guide scope and couldn't bring to focus. You will have to remove the fine focuser part of the scope, which is easy, to use a 90 deg mirror.     • Sharp little scope
This came well packaged, and is quite a sharp little scope (based on my limited experience). Unlike some of the other reviews my focusing ring was smooth, and not too tight. Only used a couple times for guiding but so far everything it working nicely

    • Had to return mine
I couldn't use the helical focus because it was so stiff the scope rotated in the rings. Tried everything and eventually sent it back. Otherwise, the scope is excellent in every way.

Looked good, materials seemed quality, but it was too stiff to focus. Turning the focus ring caused the whole assembly to turn. Maybe cranking down on the screws would have helped, but that would have damaged the material, and should not have been necessary. Final: Not worth the money because of the difficulty focusing. ... show more
