Description

Teach violin with the popular Suzuki Violin School. The Suzuki Method(R) of Talent Education is based on Shinichi Suzuki's view that every child is born with ability, and that people are the product of their environment. According to Shinichi Suzuki, a world-renowned violinist and teacher, the greatest joy an adult can know comes from developing a child's potential so he/she can express all that is harmonious and best in human beings. Students are taught using the "mother-tongue" approach. Each series of books for a particular instrument in the Suzuki Method is considered a Suzuki music school, such as the Suzuki Violin School. Suzuki lessons are generally given in a private studio setting with additional group lessons. The student listens to the recordings and works with their Suzuki violin teacher to develop their potential as a musician and as a person. This Suzuki book is integral for Suzuki Violin Lessons. This revised edition of the Suzuki Violin School, Volume 4 features: Revised editing of pieces, including bowings and fingerings Additional exercises, some from Shinichi Suzuki, plus additional insight and suggestions for teachers Text in English, French, German, and Spanish Musical notation guide Fingerboard position. • Great Violin Book
The Suzuki method for playing is a proven method for violin instruction. This book, as well as all the others in the series, are geared towards improving the technique of the student, while giving he or she nice quality music to add to their violin repertoire. Book 4 has more very nice violin pieces for the student to learn. I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Very nice
I like the selection of songs. I borrowed one of these from a friend. This one must be a new version because the shift fingering is different. It has additional exercises that I did not expect.

  • Good
Suzuki violin is a great program that is well arranged. Students play great music from multiple composers and students (and parents) learn about different composers and musical styles. Students get to play "real" music. Songs sound pleasant to the ear, a bonus for parents, and many of the songs are catchy. I find myself humming the current song throughout the day. A challenging book that will enhance any repertoire. Much better than the essential elements style of book for the private violin student who has been playing for a few years because the songs are long and challenging. These books are for the advancing student with a teacher who works with them to move along or the experienced violin player who wants a variety of good material in one book. My child's book is all marked up with notes from the teacher helping with bowing. That said, these books require a private instructor for students since there are no diagrams or images to show finger positions or give details about shifting. The violin student doesn't work simply on one new skill and move on to the next then play the big song as they do in the teaching type books. New skills aren't isolated. Some children may not like the Suzuki style since you aren't acquiring new skills as fast, you are learning new skills while working on previous concepts in long songs. ... show more

  • This book is a great next level in the Suzuki series for Violin
This book is a great next level in the Suzuki series for Violin. It has great pieces that are definitely more challenging than the book before it, like the Vivaldi, and truly gives the user space to improve. The only thing that is quite unfortunate is the amount of songs that are in the book. In the previous books, there are many different songs to play, but in book 4, there are significantly less; this may be because the songs are harder, but it would still be nice if there were more songs to work with. But overall, it is a great book for a student to work with. ... show more
