Update 6 Jan 2024: Suzco has reached out to me twice explaining that the label claiming 14 ga on the spool of 18 ga wire I received was a factory error that they are correcting. I believe them. I think blame can be shared between them and the factory since both should have been checking final products. I remain having a problem with the labeling error because people who don't know better (including some Vine reviewers here who are raving about their 14ga wire where their review record of product received clearly indicates they received 18 ga) could wind up using this wire where it shouldn't be used. If you use 18 ga wire where 14 ga is called for the 18ga can overheat and even start a fire. If you buy this mislabeled product, be sure to check the label and mark it in accordance with what the wire really is so nobody gets hurt. As an 18 ga product this wire is actually very good. As I indicated in my original review, measurements show it is 18 ga. The wire sheath is good quality and the bonding between the four wires is good. ============================================ This wire with markings for "heavy duty 14 ga" is, by my measurements and visual analysis, 18 ga. The spool is marked as 14 ga in two different places. If you use it where your loading assumes 14 ga wire, you could have a fire. I've attached a photo showing, top to bottom, the white wire from this spool, a red wire from a 16 ga spool and a black wire from an 18 ga spool. Being 16 ga, the red wire would be a smaller diameter than this spool's claimed 14 ga wire. Clearly it's larger. I've shown the black 18 ga wire because my digital calipers say it's the same diameter as the claimed 14 ga white wire. I've used digital calipers to confirm what you can see by studying my photo. The white wire on this spool and the black 18 ga wire both measure about 1.25 mm in diameter. The red 16 ga wire measures about 1.5 mm. A 14 ga wire should be about 1.62 mm, not the 1.25 mm the white wire on this spool measures. (I used wire diameter tables for various designs of multi-strand wires to determine the typical diameters I've cited here. No 14 ga multi-stranded wire measures anywhere near as small as 1.25 mm.) This review is specific to the 18ga version of this product. Listing is for multiple products. The Spool-label for this product states 14ga, but the wire was obviously 18ga. (see picture) No fault to the seller, as they were selling 18ga in the description, but I was originally confused when looking at the package. Note there is no ETL or UL listing anywhere on the spool or jacket. Speaking of the jacket, there is a weird plastic coating covering the entire length. This might help the cable resist weather or slide smoothly through trailer channels, but it makes for slightly more difficult stripping/termination. Lastly and most importantly, because this is 18awg size: make sure your trailer does not exceed 5-6 amps of total lighting. The written description states 120W (10 amps) for both 14ga and 18ga incorrectly. This wire will not be safe above 80~Watts 6.6Amps @ 12V. One of the stock pictures states 80W and confirms this. Beware the typo! Now with most modern lights being LED, this is perfectly safe wire to use. Just be careful if you have old incandescent bulbs. 5 amps = only 4-5 old-school bulbs. (or hundreds of LED's) Upgrade your bulbs! ... show more

The insulation on this cable is thick and smooth. It will run through conduit easily. The colors are bright and dyed throughout the insulation. Color guide for the standard trailer wiring is included on the spool. Utility product, but no complaints at all.

For the price and the amount you get, this is a pretty good value when it comes to trailer wire. A bit heavier gauge would be nice, especially if you are wiring a longer trailer, but for most applications, this would work. You do get some waste as you don't always need to run every color to every connection, but it is much easier than working with individual wires. Finally, the colors are "standard" trailer wire colors which makes it easy down the road to trace problems (which will happen, it's a trailer!) assuming you wired it correctly.
