I love this styling mud, and have used it for years. I first discovered it when my barber in San Francisco recommended it to me. My hair is fine, and my husband's hair is very thick, and we both are big fans of this product. I don't know why so many of the reviews on here pertain to what is clearly an issue with the sellers from whom they have purchased this product, which Amazon will definitely take care of. If you have purchased Surface Styling Mud and it arrived dried out, then you simply need to contact customer service and to reorder. I had to do that once, and Amazon took care of the problem, I reordered, and ended up with another container that was like normal (not dried out). However, when looking at the standard product, which is what I've used for years now, I recommend this for its good ability to hold and style hair in a normal style while not being bulky, thick, filmy, or making my hair feel weighted down by product.

The only hair product my husband uses. There isn’t a strong odor and it makes his hair styling easy. It never looks greasy or crunchy like some other hair products do. Be sure to warm it in your hands first if you don’t sometimes it will leave white clumps of product in your hair

IF YOU ORDER THIS PRODUCT, OPEN IT AND CHECK THAT IT'S GOOD!!! I bought two; One to stash away and one to use right away. I have been using the clay that is pictured in the far container and today I accidentally opened my reserve (the closer container) only to find that the product is not usable. I am disappointed that I waisted $20 on this order and disappointed in myself for not checking right away and allowing the return date to laps.

I use it every day. I love that it's soft and has a slight shine to it. You can't place too much though otherwise it goes from feeling soft to feeling pasty and clumpy. I just wish it would come in a bigger quantity so I don't have to order it so often. I buy two at a time.

At most, half the container was full with a fully dried out, rock hard dough. Totally unusable. What is this? Honestly, I want to know because it can't be a human hair product.

This is a great product. A little goes a long way and I have very thick hair. The styling mud holds all day and is light so it does not weigh my hair down by the end of the day. Great product from a great company. Glad I discovered it.

I bought this from Amazon and it worked great! The only difference was that it cost 1/2 what U paid at the salon.

I used up an entire container of this stuff a year ago after buying it from a salon supplier. I LOVED it. When I ordered this replacement, I was incredibly disappointed by the consistency of the product and the lack of any hold whatsoever. It didn't have the same effect at all as it did when I bought it at a legit store.
